Lead AWS Cloud DevOps Engineer

This role is remote and can also be based at any of the following Shift4 locations:  Las Vegas, NV / Tampa, FL / Atlanta, GA / Morrisville, NC / Center Valley, PA Relocation assistance may be available.

We are looking for a key Lead AWS Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our team with experience in leadership and/or technical management who can lead a team, manage projects, delegate tasks and is very much technically hands-on. This key individual will be responsible for the infrastructure and services that empower our customers to run their businesses. Milliseconds matter in an environment dealing with many thousands of requests per second and we must adapt and scale to handle an ever-growing volume of traffic across a diverse ecosystem of products and services.

  • Design and implement Cloud infrastructure for our mission critical cloud platforms using AWS technologies and best practices.
  • Lead team of senior and mid-level engineers across disparate geographic locations, manage projects, delegate tasks and mentor others. 
  • Implement infrastructure as code capabilities for our complex cloud environments.
  • Ensure the reliability and stability of application platforms by implementing observability, monitoring, alerts and dashboards for critical components.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and other team members to achieve elegant solutions which satisfy business needs, goals and objectives.
  • Build and provide recommendations for monitoring processes across engineering teams.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with deployed and/or released systems using a variety of techniques.
  • Be the first line of defense and response when it comes to production outages.
  • Coordinate with development teams for frequent production releases.
  • Responsible for supporting a SaaS based business model. 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of solid DevOps experience to include working with AWS infrastructure and services.
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams on technical projects.
  • 5+ years of experience in modern CI/CD technologies like Gitlab or Github.
  • 3+ years of hands-on professional experience working with container orchestration platforms with Kubernetes or Amazon EKS in production environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with Terraform within a large scale setup.
  • Ability to be attentive to details and show aptitude for problem solving.
  • Experience with Agile project delivery.
  • Ability to ensure that high uptime requirements are met and issues are handled in a proactive manner.
  • Great interpersonal, verbal and written skills including documentation of complex technical solutions.
  • An aptitude to work collaboratively or solo if required and have the willingness to change tasks and priorities when necessary.
  • Strong sense of urgency and wants to be part of a highly productive team that successfully delivers products timely on a continual basis. 

Desired Qualifications (Skills that are a plus to have):

  • Experience integrating monitoring tools into application support (i.e; Datadog or equivalent).
  • Experience working with distributed cloud deployments (i.e; multi-region or multi-cloud provider). 
  • Certifications with any of the following is a plus: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
    or Certified DevOps Developer - Master (CDCD-001), Terraform Administrator, CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer)
