Overview:

If you're looking for the stability of a profitable, growing company with the entrepreneurial spirit of a startup, we’re hiring. SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Lead Actuarial Analyst. In this role, you will lead key pricing and analytics work within a cross-functional team —including Product Development, Underwriting, Cat Modeling, Data and Risk Management - to support profitable growth. You will develop and monitor predictive models, evaluate rate adequacy across states and segments, and lead rate indications and pricing studies to inform renewal strategy and multi-state price updates. You will assess retention, conversion, and price elasticity, conduct pre- and post-implementation impact analyses, and recommend course corrections as needed. You will also support data mapping, exploration and modeling projects, drive process improvements through data and automation, and provide technical leadership through mentoring, governance, and clear communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You’ll work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders and recommendations to senior leadership. This role is hands-on and impact-oriented: you will balance technical depth (predictive modeling, rate indications, and monitoring) with business judgment and stakeholder management.

We provide support for professional development (including exam support where applicable) and opportunities to broaden your impact through cross-team initiatives.

What you’d be doing:

  • Collaborate within a cross-functional department—including Product Development, Underwriting, Cat Modeling, Data and Risk Management—to evaluate pricing, renewal strategies, and business-mix changes; quantify impacts and trade-offs.
  • Build, validate, and monitor predictive models (e.g., GLMs/GBMs) to enhance risk segmentation and pricing accuracy; assess model performance and drift; translate results into actionable business recommendations.
  • Monitor rate adequacy by state, product, and segment; identify key drivers of performance and emerging trends.
  • Lead rate indications and pricing studies (selections, assumptions, documentation, loss trends, and financial metrics) and support multi-state price updates.
  • Analyze retention, conversion, and price elasticity to inform renewal strategy, price optimization, and the effectiveness of offers and discounts.
  • Conduct pre- and post-implementation analyses (e.g., dislocation, competitiveness, retention); support deployment and rate filings where applicable; monitor outcomes and recommend course corrections.
  • Leverage large datasets (exposure, losses, industry metrics, and external data) to develop and test innovative rating factors; drive process improvements through better data, tooling, and automation. Support data mapping, exploration, and modeling projects for underwriting and pricing.
  • Assists with research projects, including developing predictive models and visualizing results to support business decisions.
  • Performs competitive intelligence analysis.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, mentors, and interns.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 6 to 8+ years of total actuarial experience, including 4+ years of dedicated P&C pricing experience with demonstrated knowledge of ratemaking and rate adequacy techniques (indications, trend, on-leveling, and monitoring); personal lines experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical resources.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and experience using business intelligence/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI/Tableau) preferred.
  • Strong programming and data skills; proficiency in SQL required; SAS, Python or R preferred;
  • Experience with version control and reproducible workflows preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and deliver under tight deadlines with high attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Proven organizational and time-management skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Intermediate problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to think critically and strategically

 Highly preferred candidates also have:

  • Passed 5 exams to CAS
