Working under the supervision of the Laboratory Administrative Director and/or Assistant Laboratory Director, the Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of Lab Assistants (all shifts) and all phlebotomy and specimen processing processes. The Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Supervisor is also responsible for functions related to personnel, such as scheduling, training and creating training schedules, participating in interview related processes, as well as resolving any issues or conflicts among staff members and making Lab Admin aware of the issues that exist and the potential resolution. This is a working supervisor position that is required to perform the majority functions of a Lab Assistant. Compiles monthly outpatient data for submission to Lab administration. Responsible for assisting with inventory ordering, control, and maintenance. Maintains and reviews section manual as required by accrediting agency. Works with Patient Financial Services to ensure accurate registration processes and works to assist in resolving any issues that are found. QualificationsEducation/Certification:
High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of an approved phlebotomy course. Current BLS certification.
Experience:
Two years’ experience as a phlebotomist (in a hospital setting preferred). Previous supervisory experience preferred.
