The Role:

Intel 471 is looking for a Junior Technical Editor to join our Editorial team. The role can be located in the United States on a remote basis. 

The successful individual will support the production of customer-facing cyber threat intelligence reports and other material by reviewing them for overall readability as well as grammatical and factual errors prior to publication. This detail-oriented individual will edit and refine content from a variety of writers to ensure high-quality, polished material that adheres to our editorial standards. The individual will have some experience copy editing and an interest in pursuing a career in the cybersecurity industry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Copy edit and proofread various types of short- and long-form reports for proper syntax, punctuation, grammar and spelling as well as adherence to AP style.
  • Comprehensively review reports for accuracy, clarity and consistency.
  • Verify and fact-check basic technical details.
  • Manage multiple assignments and meet varying deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop strong relationships and collaborate internally with key departmental personnel within the intelligence function and the broader organization.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Copy editing or proofreading experience.
  • Strong grasp of AP style with the ability to follow exceptions maintained in our Intel 471 Style Guide.
  • Familiarity with collaboration and software platforms such as Slack, Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, etc.
  • Familiarity with standard cyber threat intelligence/cybersecurity terminology.
  • Familiarity with editing content written by non-native English speakers.
  • Dependability and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Strong independent work ethic with the proven ability to communicate effectively across business units.

The role will report to our Chief Editor but will be expected to interact and work closely with other areas of the company as needed. The role involves occasional travel within the U.S., Europe and Asia. The role requires regular contact with our international team located in the U.S., South America, Western and Eastern Europe and Asia, so a comfort working with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds is required.
