Description

As an IT Support Engineer, you will work closely with the IT team to maintain the virtualized environments, servers, and applications that power our organization. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and scripting skills to automate processes, harden our infrastructure, and resolve complex, escalated issues.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of virtual machines (VMs) on our VMware ESXi and Proxmox hypervisors, including creation, migration, OS updates, backups, and decommissioning.
  • Administer and troubleshoot our Windows and Linux server environments, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.

Automation & Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain scripts using Python and Bash to automate routine tasks, streamline system administration, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Automate patching, software updates, and configuration management across our servers and endpoints landscape.

Security & Compliance:

  • Perform regular system patching and vulnerability management for macOS, Windows, Linux systems and applications.
  • Resolve user access problems across various platforms.

Advanced Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Debug application issues and perform advanced troubleshooting of macOS, Windows Server, and Linux operating systems.
  • Providing daily support to internal end-users.
  • Setting up and configuring new Apple laptops.
  • Onboarding new employees to IT services.
  • Manage, prioritize, and resolve IT support tickets using our Jira Service Desk, ensuring clear communication and documentation throughout the process.

Service Administration:

  • Administration of Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Manage and deploy macOS application updates and configurations (Jamf Pro).
Requirements
  • Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in a Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, IT Support, or similar role.
  • Scripting: Strong, demonstrable proficiency in Python and Bash/Shell scripting for system automation.
  • Virtualization: Deep, hands-on experience with hypervisor management, specifically VMware ESXi and Proxmox.
  • Operating Systems:
  • Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced Windows Server administration skills, including Active Directory management.
  • In-depth knowledge of macOS troubleshooting.
  • Security: Proven experience with endpoint security, hardening, and patch management principles.
  • Networking: Solid understanding of core networking concepts, including DNS, TCP/IP, and firewalls.
  • Problem-Solving: An analytical mindset with a proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex, multi-faceted technical problems.

Soft Skills

  • A strong customer-service mindset, with a demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, patience, and kindness.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
