Summary
GeneDx, a patient-centered technology company, is seeking an IT Portfolio Manager who will play a pivotal role in shaping our IT programs, projects, and products to drive successful outcomes across the organization. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for the centralized management of IT portfolios of at least 2 IT teams, ensuring alignment of IT initiatives with business strategies, optimizing resource allocation, and delivering projects within scope, budget, and timeline constraints. As the key liaison between the IT department and other business units, you will facilitate communication, drive best practices, and ensure that IT investments deliver maximum value
Job Responsibilities
- Execute the portfolio strategy for a diverse range of IT programs, projects and products, aligning with organizational goals.
- Manage the success of the development process, ensuring that all programs meet both business objectives and user needs.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve portfolio management processes and best practices for your assigned team.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to help prioritize features, assist in development of roadmaps, and gather customer feedback for ongoing enhancement.
- Collaborate closely with IT engineering teams to contribute to the technical implementation of product features, ensuring alignment with overall product vision and user needs.
- Utilize productivity tools like Jira/Confluence, Monday.com and Smartsheets, ServiceNow to effectively track tasks, progress, and milestones.
- Drive enhancements in service delivery and streamline IT operations to elevate the overall user experience through completion of projects.

Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in a technical or scientific field is required.
- 2-4 years of experience in project, product or portfolio management, ideally within IT service management (ITSM) in a SaaS environment with the ability to translate technical requirements into actionable product features.
- Self-starter with exceptional organizational skills, capable of effectively managing and prioritizing multiple programs.
- Collaborative team player with a customer-focused mindset and strong technical troubleshooting abilities.
- Skilled at navigating ambiguity, scoping MVPs, and aligning team execution with broader platform goals.
- Skilled at guiding users and stakeholders to make informed decisions that align with project goals.
- Experience in creating project product artifcats and training users on new product implementations.
- Strong communicator with the ability to convey technical issues and solutions clearly across various organizational levels.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, CLIA, SOX, SOC2 and/or HITRUST compliance standards.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Associate Product, Project, or Program Manager Certification is preferred; candidates without this certification are expected to obtain it within six months of hire.
Physical Demands
- Example: Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods during program launches.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in a remote environment with some travel to Gaithersburg lab as needed.
- Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM EST, with occasional Afterhours or weekends required during launch of programs.
