About The Role

As Fora expands into new geographies, we’re hiring an International Accounting Manager to build and scale our tax, compliance, and payments infrastructure across international markets. This role is central to ensuring Fora’s market readiness, helping to assess, prepare, and implement financial operations that support smooth market entry. You’ll work on our finance and accounting team and work cross-functionally with the Business & International Operations (BIO) and Product teams to develop the core infrastructure that supports our international advisors and ensures efficient, reliable, and compliant financial operations at scale. Drawing on your public-accounting / tax background and full professional fluency in Spanish, you will develop the month-end close, statutory reporting, and cross-border tax matters for our subsidiaries. The role combines hands-on ledger work with high-level advisory input for leadership.

Reporting directly to the Controller, you’ll be a foundational member of the Finance team, shaping how Fora localizes its business-in-a-box model internationally, while remaining locally compliant —starting with Mexico and extending across other markets. 

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-impact environments, understands accounting, tax  and the financial landscape in emerging markets, and is excited to drive innovation within a fast-growing startup.

Key Responsibilities
  • Internal Finance Operations, Bookkeeping & Tax Reporting
    • Develop systems and design reliable processes for consistent financial reporting and local tax compliance across various international and domestic markets.
    • Prepare and maintain accounting and business records for international and local entities, as well contributing towards month-end close for our central function.
    • Roll out invoicing systems aligned with regulatory needs in new markets.
  • Research and ensure adherence to local tax laws, invoicing standards, and business requirements.Market Expansion Strategy & Readiness
    • Partner with external accountants  and legal teams to ensure local compliance and market readiness.
    • Assess risks and align financial operations with broader go-to-market strategies.
    • Assist in the  incorporation and entity setup processes with country GMs and cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Select and onboard potential third-party vendors to assist with local invoicing requirements for partners & advisors.
  • Payments & Tax Infrastructure 
    • Collaborate with BIO, Fin Ops & Product to design and implement payment workflows tailored to local market needs.
    • Build and enhance payment systems for advisors and vendors, accounting for local currencies, regulations, and expectations.
    • Collaborate with Fin Ops and Product to operationalize VAT requirements across invoicing and payments Continuously refine payment processes for speed, accuracy, and ease of use.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years experience in international tax, international finance and accounting, or public accounting
  • Experience with transfer pricing, intercompany reconciliations, and cross-border transactions
  • Strong technical finance skills, including experience with financial modeling and forecasting
  • Proficiency in Excel (including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and modeling) and experience working with large datasets
  • Ability to work across departments and communicate with technical and non-technical teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a business-driven, team-player attitude
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, including business proficiency in Spanish
  • Based in or willing to relocate to New York City
Strongly Preferred
  • Active CPA (or CPA-eligible with 3+ years in Big 4 / mid-tier public accounting, heavily tax-focused)
  • MBA, Masters in Accountancy, Master’s in Taxation or International Business
  • Experience working in or with fintech companies
  • Background in platform or business-in-a-box business models
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS and ability to bridge to LATAM local GAAP
  • Knowledge of the LATAM market
  • Experience managing offshore payroll or processing vendor or freelancer payments
Compensation

Compensation range for this role can vary widely depending on experience, and for this role an indicative range is $120k-$150k + equity. Other benefits include:
