The Job/What You'll Do:

The Internal Relationship Manager (IRM) is a high‑potential role designed to support a team of Relationship Managers (RMs) within a fast‑paced, high‑performing sales organization. This role provides a career path toward becoming a full Relationship Manager.

The IRM partners closely with RMs to deepen client relationships, support new asset onboarding, improve client retention, and prepare the candidate for future ownership of a book of business.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our office location in Charlotte, NC, Phoenix, AZ, Chicago, IL, or Concord, CA.

Responsibilities:

Client & RM Support:

  • Partner with Relationship Managers to drive growth within an assigned book of business
  • Support RM efforts around client onboarding, integration into Adhesion’s platform, and ongoing retention strategies
  • Conduct research and due diligence on advisory firms’ business models, workflows, and growth opportunities

Sales & Account Management Support:

  • Assist in maintaining account plans, forecasting pipeline, and tracking toward sales goals
  • Identify opportunities to increase wallet share by uncovering asset onboarding potential, outside asset opportunities, or additional outsourcing needs
  • Help identify client risks or attrition signals and support mitigation strategies

Platform & Solution Expertise:

  • Develop subject‑matter expertise across Adhesion’s value‑add capabilities, including:
    • Tax management and tax transition
    • Direct Indexing and Personal Indexing services
    • Manager curation and OCIO+ programs
  • Educate advisors on platform features and help articulate the value of various solutions based on advisor needs

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as an advocate for the firm with internal teams (Service, Solutions, Onboarding, Marketing)
  • Partner with marketing to create campaigns highlighting Adhesion’s capabilities and platform differentiators
  • Stay current on industry trends and competitive landscape to support client conversations and internal insights

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to quickly learn managed accounts, investment products, and platform technology
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking with advisors and internal stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team
  • Strong time-management abilities and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of SMAs, direct indexing, and tax‑aware strategies preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • 3–5 years of financial services experience preferred (client service, sales support, asset management, or wealth management)
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM tools to manage pipeline and client activity
  • Series 65 preferred (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 in Charlotte and Phoenix, $74,000-$84,000 in Chicago, and $84,000-$96,000 in Concord.

 

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
