Job Objective:
The Internal Controls Manager will oversee the day-to-day management of multiple internal control audit and advisory engagements. This role involves managing and reporting on project budgets and status, collaborating with cross-functional engagement teams, managing scheduling, training, coaching, and providing feedback to internal controls staff. This role will also identify and coordinate process improvements and manage other assigned ad hoc projects. The manager will also participate in program and business development efforts, champion the internal controls program, build a strong team, and deliver extraordinary client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple internal control audit and advisory engagements simultaneously
- Lead project management activities, including status tracking, reporting, and oversight of team members

- Provide excellent client service, build relationships, and communicate complex issues clearly and concisely
- Collaborate with cross-functional engagement teams
- Manage scheduling and provide training, coaching, and feedback to staff
- Participate in program and business development efforts

- Stay abreast of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices related to internal controls and risk management
- Deliver extraordinary client service

- Champion the internal controls program
- Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of risk and controls or related experience

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field

- Professional certification such as CPA or CIA is preferred

- Strong understanding in process design, risk management, and internal control frameworks (COSO, SOX, etc)
- Strong experience in scoping and controls testing under AICPA and PCAOB standards and SOX compliance, including identification of control gaps and deficiencies
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Effective organization and project management skills

- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Professionalism and professional curiosity
- Attention to detail and emotional intelligence
- Positive attitude and integrity
- Adaptable and flexible

- Proven track record of collaboration across functional teams to standardize procedures, identify and implement process improvements, and drive automation efforts.
- Experience with data analytics, IT audit, and emerging technology like AI is a bonus but not required
