About Dexcom’s Summer Intern Program:

Looking to spend your summer working with innovative technology and changing the lives of patients with diabetes? Dexcom’s U.S. 12-week internship program provides an experience driven program aimed at developing the next generation of talent. Our onsite, hybrid, and remote work models ensure that we can invite diverse and talented intern classes from across the country. Interns will have the chance to gain knowledge and develop their skills while contributing to key company projects and initiatives. Internship Department Details:  

  • Department Name: R&D
  • Business Function: Global Data Science
  • Team Highlights: As an intern on Dexcom’s Global Data Science Team, you will be collaborating at the center of a best-in-class data science capability that augments and applies the whole of Dexcom’s data assets to drive value creation across the business, develop innovative data products, and enable a tailored Dexcom experience for all of our customers. You will be working with the latest big data technologies and cloud computing platforms to query real-world data for commercial and clinical insights, support ad hoc data requests, develop ingestion pipelines for data modeling, and operationalize predictive model pipelines in a collaborative environment. 

 

Where you come in:

  • You will work under the guidance of Data Science mentor to write data ingestion pipelines, perform ad hoc analytics, operationalize model pipelines, and communicate results to data science team. 
  • You will use techniques from statistical analysis and predictive modeling to build knowledge of Dexcom products, processes, and customers. 
  • You will perform high quality research in collaboration with other functional teams at Dexcom into the patterns and properties of diabetes centric data from the individual to population scale to inform product, digital services and business development. 
  • You will query and analyze data in support of existing apps and other products in commercial use, document code in shared repositories, and communicate project results to department on completion of program. 

 

What makes you successful:

  • You have familiarity working with high-level programming languages, databases and distributed computing platforms and their query interfaces, and visualization software and techniques. 
  • You have knowledge of statistical methods, algorithms, and the mathematical methods used to extract information from data. 
  • You are a team player with a demonstrated track record of collaboration, bringing excellent written and verbal communications skills and a proven ability to translate complex methodologies and analytical results to business insights.
  • You are a self-starter with exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of conducting independent research, and motivated by hard technical challenges. 
  • Experience working with Python. 
  • Experience working with GCP BigQuery or SQL. 
  • Familiarity with Python libraries for math and statistics. 
  • Working knowledge of enterprise cloud tools for big data analysis such as Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure. 
  • Familiarity with Jupyter Notebook, or Jupyter Lab. 
  • Familiarity with statistical inference, data mining, pattern recognition or machine learning. 
  • Ability to prepare high quality technical figures for publication in industry and scientific journals. 
  • Familiarity working cross functionally with teams deployed across the US and internationally. 
  • Experience in continuous glucose monitoring and related data.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Requires a completed Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Must be a currently enrolled Master’s, JD, or PhD student at an accredited college or university in a STEM discipline with an expected graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Non-Exempt Salary Details:

The annualized base salary range for this role is $35.00 to $45.00. Annualized values for non-exempt (hourly) positions are estimates, final annualized salary will depend on total hours worked. Final compensation package will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, business needs and market demand.

Remote Workplace: Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km). If you reside within commuting distance of a Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km) a hybrid working environment may be available. Ask about our Flex workplace option.
