Inside the Role

The Business Development Manager, Point of Sales Insurance Products is responsible for day-to-day business / sales activities with respect to generation of new business and renewals of insurance for Point of Sales products such as GAP, GAP+, Physical Damage, Non-Truck Liability, Vehicle Return Plan (VRP), Connected insurance, amongst others for all Daimler dealers. The role entails establishing and maintaining effective relationships with DTFS Regional Sales Director / Regional Managers (DTFS RM’s), DTFS District Finance Managers (DFM’s), key dealer personnel including Dealer Principals, General Manager, and Finance and Insurance Managers). A key requirement is to understand customer’s insurance needs and provide DTFS / DTIA Insurance Partner solutions; generate and meet insurance revenue and business goals for DTFS / DTIA. As a sales position, the role has revenue goals and KPI’s; results are measured on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. In coordination with DTFS Marketing and Sales Enablement teams the position develops, implements and rolls out products to dealers. Collaborate with the DTFS / DTIA Insurance Partner, DTFS Strategy and Product Management team, in a subject matter expert capacity, for new insurance product development. This could entail feasibility study, product development and business plan input. In coordination with DTFS Marketing and Sales Enablement teams, develop, implement and roll out products to dealers.
DTFS insurance product may encompass / enhance across multiple policy lines for new and related renewal processes internally and externally for existing and new corporate insurance policies, including but not limited to General Liability & Property, Commercial Auto, Workers Compensation, Commercial Catastrophe, Directors and Officers Liability, Bankers Professional Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Lessor Contingent Liability, Financial Institution Binds, Cyber Liability, etc

What You Drive at DTFS

  • Establish and work toward achieving revenue goals for both existing and new business.  Collaborate with DTFS / DTIA insurance partner to generate Point of Sale (PoS) product revenue for Daimer Truck North America (DTNA) dealers and TEM’s.  Work closely with Insurance Partner(s), Dealer Sales, Finance and Insurance Managers to develop and execute joint marketing approach to maximize revenue.  Work with and support DTFS RM’s / DFM’s to generate revenue for PoS products.
  • Collaborate with Strategy and Product Management team to assist with financial feasibility studies, proposal development, and negotiations for new business opportunities. Collaborate with Marketing and Sales Enablement, Sales, and other stakeholders to support business development plans, specific to building out PoS portfolio. Collaborate with Insurance Partner(s) to develop, implement and train on new / existing PoS products. As needed, collaborate in developing new products to meet / anticipate customer insurance needs.
  • Work with and support DTFS RM’s / DFM’s to provide training for PoS products.  In conjunction with Insurance Partner and DTFS training team, develop relevant training for Internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Product, Credit, etc.) and Dealer Sales, Finance and Insurance teams via on-line, in-person or other media formats.
  • Communicate with customers regarding all aspects of their account service needs, including policies, endorsements, audits, proofs of coverage, and cancellations.  Work on renewals by tracking, following up on, and completing renewal business through various communication channels (text, phone, email) to achieve sales goals.  Verify that all policies are bound with insurance companies in writing before or on the policy's effective date.  Maintain updated client and policy information in the agency management system.
  • Maintain awareness of business environment, competitors, and customers to develop ideas for new products and services, pricing, and business models. Research and analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and customer needs to identify relevant insurance products and opportunities for revenue.
  • Upon request, provide input and support to various departments, Sales team, and dealer partners to identify insurance coverage opportunities, as well as mitigate DTFS risk to end customers.
  • Utilize appropriate DTFS / DTIA IT systems (such as Salesforce, F&I Pro, Applied Epic, and Tinubu) for lead generations, customer follow-up and maintenance.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • BS/BA and prefer 5-7 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Property & Casualty License (PRC) required
  • Proven track record of producing revenue results
  • A background with increasing levels of cross functional responsibility in marketing, product management, channels, and business development
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong critical thinking, time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Preferred Degree on Business Administrations
  • Experience with programs related to auto liability for large commercial truck fleets, risk management, insurance underwriting and or Claim sectors
  • Experience with Risk Management Insurance Systems database / systems.   
  • Professional designations (CPCU)
