Position Overview:

To provide comprehensive consultative insurance guidance and grow the local delivery of insurance services within assigned area.   To act as an experienced auto, home, life, and annuity insurance agent in the designated territory.   To engage personnel across all business lines and work collaboratively to establish effective referral processes and ensure member holistic financial planning needs are met.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • (25%) Responsible for life/personal lines insurance and annuity contract delivery as a member facing Insurance Specialist within SECU locations and provides light territorial support and guidance to newer Insurance specialists within the network.

  • (25%) Utilizes SECU technology, marketing campaigns, lead platforms, and member branch visits to achieve daily activity levels that align with branch/territory/region insurance productivity benchmarks. 

Works independently and successfully achieves desired activity productivity levels with minimal guidance and oversight.

  • (15%) Has advanced understanding of all financial advisory solutions to coordinate and engage with other specialists as needed to assist with complex scenarios and ensure member needs are being met holistically.

  • (15%) Proficient in determining member needs and delivering insurance solutions.  Demonstrates proficiency in all insurance systems, processes, and carrier requirements.

  • (10%) Demonstrates advanced insurance knowledge and articulates best practices and shares valuable feedback to management and Financial Advisory Services (FAS) leadership teams.

  • (10%) Effectively builds referral networks across all business lines to ensure member insurance needs are met.

Required Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Minimum education – 4-year degree

  • Minimum direct years of experience – 2 years of insurance sales and service experience or related financial services experience.

  • Must possess active North Carolina Life and Personal Lines or Property & Casualty licenses or obtain those licenses within 1 month of hire and satisfy all continuing education requirements.

  • Must have advanced knowledge of insurance industry and responsibilities to the policyholders.

  • Must have substantial experience working within an Agency Management System.

  • Must have shown the ability to build and maintain relationships with carriers, specialists and members and facilitate effective dialogue.

Preferred Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • ALMI, CIC, CFP® or other industry designation is considered a plus.

Job Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Work in an SECU branch location and some travel within assigned region.

  • Sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Telephone for prolonged periods.

  • Computer for prolonged periods.
