Position Overview
The Curriculum Manager is a detail-oriented educational professional who ensures the effective implementation and continuous improvement of insurance exam prep and continuing education programs. This role requires a strong collaborator with a deep understanding of insurance licensing exams, curriculum development, and data-driven decision-making.
 
The Curriculum Manager is responsible for assisting in the design, evaluation, and refinement of course materials, ensuring alignment with institutional standards, state exam outlines, and accreditation requirements. They play a critical role in collecting feedback, and implementing changes that enhance the quality of education and the overall learning experience for candidates. Creating and upleveling student solutions (via content and design) across all delivery methods is a major part of this role.
 
 
Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, The Manager will collaborate with sales and marketing to highlight content and product ensuring a seamless integration of curriculum-related activities. This role requires excellent project management skills, an innovative mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to drive student outcomes.

Position Requirements & Major Responsibilities

  • Curriculum development
  • Design, develop, and update comprehensive curriculum materials for insurance licensing exams, including study guides, practice exams, and interactive learning modules.
  • Ensure all curriculum materials are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with industry standards and licensing requirements.
  • Vet and manage internal and external SMEs, manage expectations around timelines and deliverables, and collaborate with the Course Design and Production Team.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of documentation required for accreditation processes, ensuring that all programs meet or exceed accreditation standards.
  • Voice of the customer
  • Stay abreast of educational trends, market changes, and technologies to continuously improve and innovate our curriculum offerings.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from instructors, partners, students, and subject-matter experts to inform curriculum revisions, ensuring that content remains relevant and effective across all programs.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of data on candidate performance, curriculum effectiveness, and overall program outcomes.
  • Content strategy and pipeline management
  • Collaborate with the curriculum and support teams to identify areas for improvement in instructional delivery and curriculum design, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize action coming out of market share, pass rate, survey reviews and other customer feedback based on business opportunity, source with appropriate SMEs, and manage timeline commitments.
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and effectively allocate resources to meet roadmap deadlines.
  • Identify areas to leverage AI solutions to improve time-to-market and work with the related internal teams to implement and scale.
  • Marketing, Industry events, and key partnerships
  • Participate in the monthly Financial Services Product and Platform Release update call by preparing slides and presenting appropriate updates.
  • Review marketing pieces for B2B and B2C release to ensure proper product positioning and value props as well as industry compliance.
  • Attend industry events as needed (1-3 per year) to represent the face of XCEL.
  • Identify key partnerships in that will further the growth of the insurance business and better establish XCEL as a though-leader.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience as a licensed Life, Health, Property, and Casualty insurance agent.
  • At least 3 years of experience preparing candidates to pass insurance licensing exams.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot).
  • Ability to use AI for: Drafting content outlines and learning objectives, Generating practice questions and explanations, and Automation of repetitive tasks.
  • Experience validating AI-generated content for accuracy and bias.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering for educational use cases.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing abilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional team.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and execute changes based on that data.
  • Customer-focused, team-oriented, data-driven, growth-minded.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in online course development, educational technology, and learning management systems.
  • Strong understanding of educational content development and instructional design principles or curriculum development.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
