The Instructional Designer uses their knowledge of adult learning principles to develop high-quality, high-impact learning content in support of enterprise initiatives. They work effectively with key stakeholders across multiple levels to identify training needs and to design and develop learning programs.
Responsibilities- Design and develop engaging learning solutions across multiple modalities, including instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (VILT), eLearning, videos, job aids, performance support resources, and blended learning experiences.
- Create and maintain learning assets such as facilitator guides, participant guides, presentation materials, scenarios, activities, assessments, and digital learning content.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to synthesize complex information into clear, learner-centered content that drives knowledge transfer and behavior change.
- Apply adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, accessibility standards, and organizational branding guidelines to all learning solutions.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and incorporate stakeholder feedback to ensure learning solutions meet business objectives and learner needs.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities, timelines, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
- Stay informed on emerging learning technologies, instructional design trends, and best practices to continuously improve learning experiences.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience.
Additional Experience and Education
- 2+ years of experience in instructional design, learning and development, talent development, or facilitation.
- Experience designing and developing instructor-led, virtual, and digital learning experiences using tools such as Storyline, Rise, Adobe Suite and Camtasia.
- Experience supporting professional development or leadership development initiatives.
- Prior experience partnering with business stakeholders in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with instructional design and eLearning development tools, including Articulate 360 suite (Rise and Storyline), Camtasia, and other multimedia authoring platforms.
- Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles and learning experience design best practices.
- Working knowledge of instructional design methodologies, including ADDIE and agile learning development approaches.
- Ability to design engaging, learner-centered experiences across instructor-led, virtual, self-paced, and blended learning modalities.
- Experience incorporating multimedia, interactive elements, scenarios, and performance-based learning strategies into learning solutions.
- Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to identify learning needs, extract critical knowledge, and translate complex information into clear, engaging learning experiences.
- Commitment to accessibility, quality standards, and continuous improvement in learning design and development.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. Pay Grade 18. $56,900 - $119,200
