The Instructional Designer will create engaging online learning experiences, leveraging Canvas LMS and graphic design software, collaborating with stakeholders, and applying instructional design best practices.

Instructure is seeking an innovative instructional designer to create amazing learning experiences in a fast-paced, get-stuff-done environment as part of a collaborative and fully-remote team.
What you will be doing:
- Create an unparalleled customer experience by consulting and collaborating with client-based institutional leadership teams to design and build world-class online learning experiences.
- Design, curate, create, revise, align, and structure content, activities, and assessments in Canvas LMS along with Canvas Credentials, Mastery Connect and/or Elevate Standards Alignment to align with learning objectives
- Utilize graphic design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Google Draw, Adobe Stock, etc.) to design original visual assets for course development.
- Leverage HTML skills and the functionality of the Rich Content Editor in Canvas to create course content that meets or exceeds WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
- Work with instructors, SMEs (subject matter experts), and/or curriculum writers to develop engaging online learning experiences for all types of Canvas courses (brick and mortar, fully online, hybrid, self-paced, blended learning, etc.).
- Incorporate best practices and Universal Design for Learning Guidelines into course design for innovative and engaging learning.
- Deliver onsite or remote workshops (e.g. custom course, delivery of workshop, course as a resource for continuing education) as needed
- Build and maintain professional relationships with instructors, SMEs, and stakeholders.
- Communicate with stakeholders regarding course design elements, goals, deadlines, and objectives.
- Coordinate and manage multiple projects at once small to medium in size including tracking hours, identifying key deliverables and recommendations, and providing ongoing communication to stakeholders
What you will need to know/have:
- Exceptional instructional design experience in Canvas LMS is a must!
- A strong portfolio demonstrating mad skills in designing and building eLearning experiences, incorporating graphic design assets, within Canvas for web and mobile platforms.
- A broad background in creating engaging digital content while applying instructional design best practices and incorporating learning/edtech theories.
- An understanding of key design concepts such as WCAG 2.1 Accessibility Guidelines, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and copyright.
- A specialized skill set in advanced graphic design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Google Draw, etc.).
- Experience with basic HTML, instructional design software, authoring tools, and LTIs
- Strong written and verbal communication, as well as excellent active listening skills, that promotes effective meetings with clients, designers, and the Instructure team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting multiple project deadlines.
- An ability to present resources and facilitate conversation in a professional and polished manner.
- An understanding of credentialing, assessments, & alignment is a plus
- A bachelor’s degree in education, design, marketing, or other design-related fields.
- A Master’s degree in instructional design, adult learning, education technology, curriculum & instruction or other design-related fields is a plus, but not required
