Unusual Machines is a U.S.-based drone and drone parts company focused on the small and First-Person View (FPV) segments of the drone market. Our brands - Rotor Riot, Fat Shark, Rotor Lab and - coming soon - Upgrade Energy - are some of the most respected names in FPV and have helped shape the industry through e-commerce, product development, and a deep connection with the pilot community.

We’re expanding into enterprise and defense - bringing our obsessive attention to performance, design, and U.S.-based manufacturing into high-stakes environments like search and rescue and military innovation. With several of our products already approved by the Defense Innovation Unit, we’re solving procurement issues for customers who demand speed, agility, and compliance.

If you love working at the intersection of community, content, and cutting-edge technology, you’ll feel right at home here.

You in This role monitors and inspects products and assemblies at defined checkpoints throughout the manufacturing and assembly process to ensure conformance to engineering specifications, work instructions, and quality standards. Working closely with production and engineering teams, this role serves as the quality checkpoint between production stages — catching issues at the source before they become escapes. The ideal candidate is technically sharp, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced production environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform in-process and final inspections at defined production checkpoints, including sub-assembly, final assembly, and pre-shipment stages for hardware, electronics, and mechanical components.

  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional checks using calipers, gauges, magnification tools, and other inspection equipment appropriate to the operation.
  • Inspect solder joints, connector seating, and PCB assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610 or equivalent standards.
  • Record inspection results in real time within the quality management system (QMS), maintaining accurate and traceable inspection records.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming product; initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and apply proper identification and disposition tags.
  • Communicate defect findings clearly and promptly to production leads and engineers to support real-time corrective action.
  • Participate in first article inspections (FAI) for new or revised assemblies.
  • Monitor and verify production operator adherence to ESD control procedures, FOD prevention practices, and safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement activities by tracking defect trends and contributing to root cause analysis.
