FDE Infrastructure SRE Engineer

This is a remote, client-facing consultant role with Inviso. In this position, you will support an external software development organization as part of Inviso’s delivery team, helping build the operational and reliability foundations for an enterprise AI platform.

The Inviso Infrastructure / SRE Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and operating the cloud, infrastructure, deployment, observability, and reliability capabilities that allow platform teams to ship safely and consistently. This role focuses on landing zones, infrastructure-as-code, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, incident response, cost optimization, and production readiness.

The Engineer treats infrastructure and reliability as products, building repeatable systems that reduce toil, improve delivery speed, and support mission-critical customer environments. The ideal candidate is hands-on, automation-minded, calm under pressure, and comfortable owning systems in production.

This is a 100% remote role, but may require some travel due to client needs.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure with reliability ownership.
  • Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code, landing zones, networking, identity, security, and environment management.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment practices.
  • Experience establishing observability using metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerting, and actionable operational signals.
  • Experience defining or supporting SLOs, reliability practices, incident response, postmortems, and on-call operations.
  • Ability to automate operational tasks and reduce manual toil through scripts, tools, runbooks, and platform services.
  • Experience preparing software for customer-controlled, hybrid, BYOC, on-premises, or edge environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cost and capacity optimization, including expensive compute such as GPU workloads.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for client-facing consulting environments.
  • Pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance speed, safety, automation, cost, and operational quality.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, Bicep, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or related infrastructure and delivery tools.
  • Experience with Azure Arc, fleet management, pull-based deployment patterns, or version/configuration drift management.
  • Experience supporting regulated, air-gapped, edge, or mission-critical delivery environments.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML platforms, model-serving infrastructure, GPU workloads, or AI development lifecycle operations.
  • Experience building enterprise-scale infrastructure supporting multiple teams, products, or customers.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining strong review, testing, and operational discipline.

Success Criteria

Success in this role is measured by reliable platform operations, repeatable delivery, strong observability, reduced operational toil, and the ability to help client teams ship safely into complex customer environments. Infrastructure / SRE Engineers are expected to improve speed and stability at the same time.
