About Future

At Future, we believe that personal connection is the key to progress. Our mission is to make world-class coaching accessible to everyone, helping people unlock their full potential through expert guidance, motivation, and accountability. As a digital personal training platform, we deliver highly personalized coaching, tailoring workout plans and support to each individual’s goals - all through a seamless app experience.

Since launching in 2017, Future has grown from a brainstorm in a San Francisco cafe into the nation’s largest provider of personal training sessions. In January 2025, Future announced its merger with Autograph, the company founded by 7x World Champion and entrepreneur Tom Brady. We’re poised for massive growth as we expand our brand, forge new partnerships with some of the world’s most iconic athletes, and harness AI to enhance and scale our coaching experience.

As we continue to grow, we’re investing in cutting-edge technology, deepening our roster of elite coaches, and building new partnerships. If you're passionate about shaping the future of fitness, come join us - we’re just getting started.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to own and evolve the cloud platform that powers our product. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll design, build, and operate the foundational infrastructure our engineering teams depend on every day.

You’ll work across cloud architecture, infrastructure as code, observability, and cost optimization — partnering closely with backend and platform engineers to keep our systems reliable, secure, and efficient. You’ll establish best practices that scale with the team and ensure we’re getting the most out of every dollar we spend on cloud resources.

The ideal candidate is passionate about building resilient systems on AWS. You think in terms of automation, reliability, and operational excellence — not just getting things running, but keeping them running well. You care about security, cost efficiency, and developer experience. Most importantly, you’re motivated by enabling other engineers to ship faster and more confidently.

What You’ll Do
  • Define and enforce infrastructure-as-code best practices using AWS CDK, ensuring all cloud resources are version-controlled, repeatable, and peer-reviewed.
  • Architect and manage AWS infrastructure including ECS, RDS Aurora, API Gateway, S3, and networking — optimizing for reliability, performance, and cost.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive observability stack: structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics dashboards, and alerting using Datadog.
  • Establish and run on-call processes, incident response playbooks, and post-mortem practices that improve system resilience over time.
  • Optimize RDS Aurora and ECS resources for performance, availability, and cost — right-sizing instances, tuning queries, and managing scaling policies.
  • Own cloud spend management: implement tagging strategies, cost allocation, budgets, and regular reviews to keep infrastructure costs accountable.
  • Harden cloud security posture: manage IAM policies, network segmentation, secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and compliance controls.
  • Improve developer experience by streamlining CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and local development tooling.
What You Bring
  • Strong experience with AWS services in production: ECS, RDS Aurora, S3, API Gateway, IAM, VPC networking, and related services.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly AWS CDK (Golang).
  • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring: Datadog (or similar platforms like Grafana, New Relic), structured logging, distributed tracing, and alerting.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases in production: query optimization, connection management, replication, failover, and backup strategies for Aurora/PostgreSQL.
  • Experience managing containerized workloads: ECS, container image pipelines, service discovery, and scaling.
  • Comfortable with Golang — enough to read, debug, and contribute to backend services when needed.
  • Strong grasp of cloud security fundamentals: least-privilege IAM, network segmentation, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience with on-call rotations, incident management, and building runbooks that reduce mean time to resolution.
  • Clear communication: you’ll work directly with backend, platform, and product engineers to translate infrastructure needs into reliable solutions.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with cost optimization tools and practices: AWS Cost Explorer, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, or third-party FinOps platforms.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions.
  • Exposure to service mesh, API gateways, or advanced networking patterns.
  • Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure tooling.
  • Background in SOC 2, HIPAA, or other compliance frameworks as they relate to cloud infrastructure.
