DebtBook is an industry-leading fintech software platform that revolutionizes the way local governments, higher education, healthcare organizations and their finance teams work. Our powerful, cloud-based software helps these organizations manage all aspects of their debt, leases, and subscriptions, streamline financial reporting, and share information simply with others.
This RoleWe are looking for an engineer with 1-2 years of experience building and maintaining reliable infrastructure. This engineer will work on the team that owns our entire infrastructure posture and will help develop new features while maintaining a secure, reliable, and compliance focused environment. We need someone who has a general idea of how Terraform works and with experience designing and understanding complex tradeoffs in a production setting. Familiarity with software development practices is a significant plus.
How We Work- Our infrastructure is developed using Terraform and is hosted on AWS. We aim to maintain a high level of compliance with various security and government standards. We also build command line tooling using the Go programming language.
- Our team primarily works asynchronously via Slack and Gitlab issues with meetings over Zoom when high bandwidth discussion is required.
- Our team coordinates with the engineering team to ensure that the infrastructure meets the needs for feature development and developer experience.
- Participate in all stages of managing production infrastructure: system design and engineering, issue writing/breakdown, produce terraform configuration, review changes and deployments. Engage in monitoring and coordinating in resolving incidents that the team experiences.
- Own the quality of your work. Deliberate and extensive system design and discussion with the team to ensure your approach and solution fits into the larger team vision and work.
- Work across the engineering organization to identify and coordinate on solutions to improve the function of the DebtBook application and infrastructure.
- Good written communication skills
- Experience and understanding of Unix-like operating systems
- Understanding of standard AWS features and offerings
- Basic experience with Terraform
- General scripting abilities
- Experience developing software a plus
- Annual salary range is $100,000-120,000 based on experience
- This role is eligible for an up to 5% annual bonus
- This role will receive a stock option grant
- Remote possible, with a preference for Charlotte, NC
- 30 min - Introduction Call with Director of Infrastructure
- 1 hr - Behavioral Interview with Directors of Infrastructure and Engineering
- 90 min - Technical Interview with Infrastructure Engineer
- Our technical assessment is a discussion about infrastructure design and various failure scenarios that the candidate is to consider and provide a walkthrough of how they would approach the scenario.
- 90 min - Onsite with members from the Product, Design, and Engineering teams
