Wilmington Trust Institutional Services (IS) division offers trust, agency, and collateral management services for various corporate and capital market transactions in US and Europe to institutional clients. The business has offices across the United States as well as in London, Dublin, and Frankfurt. The IS division is experiencing rapid business growth and has initiated a strategic digital transformation program. The goals of the program are to grow revenue through new and transformed digital-first trust and agency service products, to move from a product-centric to client-centric operating model, to move from market-specific to global solutions, and to dramatically lower the cost to serve.
OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the overall design of the information (data) architecture for Institutional Services as part of the business architecture framework adapted for Wilmington Trust corporate trust and agency services. Knowledgeable in designing and constructing data architectures, operational data stores, and data marts. Focused on how data supports business goals and ensuring data is organized and managed effectively for business use. Bridge the gap between technical data solutions and business capabilities, working closely with business analysts and stakeholders.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain Information Architecture (IA) including logical hierarchies and taxonomies using adapted business architecture frameworks and metamodel for Institutional Services (e.g., TOGAF). Focus on defining data/information architecture standards, policies, and guidelines for the organization, structure, attributes, and nomenclature of data elements.
- Responsible for driving accountability and adherence to accepted data content standards to technology projects.
- Use modeling tools (e.g., ArchiMate, BPMN) to document information architecture. Maintain repositories of information architecture deliverables with traceability.
- Facilitate analysis and development of complex logical database designs, logical data models, and relational data definitions in support of information systems and digital product platforms.
- Understand the methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within and between technology systems and business operations.
- Work closely with business leaders, digital product owners, technical owners, and other key stakeholders to support change management and transformation initiatives. Support capability-based planning and investment decisions.
- Serve as liaison between business/functional areas and Technology to ensure business data requirements are clearly defined, communicated, well understood, and weighed in conjunction with competing priorities from other projects.
- Understand products in the Bank’s data product ecosystem to continue to generate value for the business.
- Lead multiple data product teams through matrixed leadership of functional associates as well as indirect influence and task assignment authority for matrixed resources, mentoring, and developing all product team members to fulfill the data product vision.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years’ related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years’ higher education and/or work experience including a minimum of 9 years’ related experience
- Knowledge of data structures, data stores, data marts, and APIs
- Proven experience in advanced information (data) architecture concepts
- Proven experience integrating data governance practices into product development
- Demonstrated experience working with multiple data products and digital products
- Robust understanding of full-cycle product development within an Agile framework
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience with large and complex database management systems
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field
- Demonstrated experience transforming business requirements into logical data modeling, data analysis, and relational DBMS design and support
- TOGAF Business Architecture certification and/or experience with ArchiMate and BPMN
- Experience with corporate trust and agency services
- Proven track record of considering stakeholder perspectives, addressing objections, and developing solutions; helps teams stay focused on desired outcomes
- Demonstrates emotional intelligence; ability to adapt message
