About The Role

If you are looking to join a small but expanding tax team dealing with various complex Domestic and International tax laws, then the Indirect Tax Specialist role at AlphaSense is an exciting role, with a rapidly expanding SAAS company in the AI/Market Intelligence space. This person will report directly to the Senior Tax Specialist. Our ideal candidate is someone with a strong desire to add value and learn, and who is comfortable with a rapidly changing environment. What You'll Do 

  • Support monthly indirect tax compliance operations by preparing and timely filing domestic sales/use tax and international GST/VAT returns for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Reconcile tax data between ERP and Avalara tax software.
  • Manage exemption certificate process and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Analyze and respond to indirect tax audit notices in a timely manner.
  • Prepare indirect tax general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Lead nexus evaluations and assist with indirect tax registrations. 
  • Conduct in-depth tax research, monitor changes in tax laws, and document tax laws and regulations to enable accurate tax determination / compliance filings. 
  • Develop and maintain a taxability repository containing tax determinations for company products and services across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with billing and customer support teams on customer tax related inquiries.
  • Assist with Indirect tax system implementations including setup, testing, and issue resolution. 
  • Support special projects within indirect tax and income tax as needed.
  • Maintain indirect tax filing calendar, track filing deadlines, and track indirect tax payments.

Who You Are 

  • Selfless, hardworking, and meticulous team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1 to 3+ years of experience in indirect tax in industry and/or consulting.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong tax research and writing skills.
  • Comfortable working with large amounts of data. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines by effectively prioritizing work. 
  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or master’s degree in taxation preferred.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Knowledge of AvaIara, Netsuite or other data analytics tools desirable

For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies and internal comparables. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience/expertise and may vary from the amounts listed below. 

You may also be offered equity, and a generous benefits program.

Compensation Range
$80,000$90,000 USD
