Our professionals have one goal in mind when working with clients — to help them minimize their state and local tax liability while remaining compliant with ever-changing tax laws. In addition to providing income and franchise tax compliance support services, our SALT team advises clients on multi-state tax planning, nexus considerations, audit support, credits and incentives, and the state tax implications of business transactions and expansions.
Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead SALT consulting engagements from start to finish, including planning, budgeting, execution, and timely delivery of services.
  • Research and analyze state tax issues; prepare technical memoranda and clearly communicate tax positions and conclusions.
  • Advise clients on filing positions, apportionment methodologies, nexus determinations, credits, and tax planning opportunities.
  • Respond to notices from state taxing authorities and assist clients with audits and other controversy matters, including voluntary disclosure agreements when applicable.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing responsive, high-quality service.
  • Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities to expand client services.
  • Supervise and mentor Senior Associates and Associates; review work product and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments impacting state and local taxation.
 Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Accounting.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience, with a focus on state and local tax.
  • Strong background in multi-state income and franchise tax compliance and consulting.
  • Experience with state tax research and planning.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience supervising and reviewing the work of tax professionals.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g, CCH Axcess) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, research, organizational, and communication skills.
