You're a senior frontend technologist who thrives in modern headless ecommerce environments and enjoys building scalable, high-performance storefront experiences using Shopify Hydrogen, React, and TypeScript. You’re comfortable working within complex enterprise architectures and collaborating closely with designers, project managers, and backend engineers to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions.

You enjoy solving real-world commerce challenges such as inventory rendering, performance optimization, and complex UI logic, and you’re confident working inside evolving codebases. You communicate clearly, move efficiently within sprint workflows, and help elevate frontend architecture standards across projects.

This role will primarily support ongoing development for an enterprise storefront leveraging Hydrogen for core customer-facing experiences.

  • Develop and maintain Hydrogen-based storefront features using React and TypeScript
  • Build scalable, reusable frontend components aligned with modern React patterns
  • Collaborate with internal delivery teams to implement new UX features and enhancements
  • Translate design concepts and technical requirements into performant storefront experiences
  • Work within existing Hydrogen repositories and enterprise Shopify architecture
  • Optimize rendering performance, state management, and data fetching strategies
  • Integrate APIs and backend services supporting product, inventory, and checkout workflows
  • Troubleshoot complex frontend issues across devices, browsers, and environments
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain strong Git version control practices
  • Document technical decisions and support ongoing maintainability of the codebase

Requirements
  • 4+ years of frontend development experience with strong React fundamentals
  • Demonstrated experience working with Shopify Hydrogen storefronts in production
  • Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, React, modern JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Experience with headless ecommerce or composable storefront architectures
  • Strong understanding of GraphQL data fetching patterns and API integrations
  • Comfort working within enterprise-level repositories and collaborative development workflows
  • Experience optimizing performance, accessibility, and frontend architecture
  • Ability to work independently while communicating clearly with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with Shopify ecosystem concepts such as Storefront API, metafields, and custom logic is strongly preferred
    Nice to Have
    • Experience with Node.js middleware or hybrid Shopify architectures
    • Previous work on enterprise retail or high-traffic ecommerce storefronts
    • Experience with design systems and component libraries
    • Exposure to AEM or other CMS integrations

Benefits

Hourly Rate: $30-$40 USD per hour depending on experience
Weekly Hours: Approximately 20–30 hours per week
Project Duration: March 2026 through August 1st, 2026 with potential extension
Engagement Type: Contract / Freelance
