Job Summary

This position has overall responsibility for the timely and accurate reporting of Barings LLC and Barings Finance LLC and other subsidiaries. Position will require an analytical person who can process and review information for the inclusion in audited Financial Statements. Position will also require a person with strong ability to multitask and juggle different work activities and shift attention from one task to another. The position will reside in our corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC, reporting to the Barings, LLC Chief Accounting Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage 8-person accounting team.
  • Oversee review of month- and quarter-end accounting close and financial reporting.
  • Partner with UK  Controller to establish leverageable global processes.
  • Ensure the accurate compilation and reporting of financial data in accordance with US GAAP guidance.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate controls – partnering with Barings controls team.
  • Manage relationship with external auditors.
  • Coordinate with Valuation team on Investment, LSR and Acquisition related valuation issues.
  • Implementation of new accounting standards as needed.
  • Proactively search out ways to improve and streamline processes.
  • Lead special projects, such as newly acquired entities

Qualifications

  • At least 10+ years of combined public/private experience in the financial services industry
  • Proven experience in a managerial capacity is required.
  • CPA with public accounting experience required.
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or relevant field is required; a Master’s degree in Accounting and/or previous experience in a “Big 4” public accounting firm strongly preferred.
  • Excellent accounting and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with solid executive presence and the ability to establish credibility.
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate across the firm on complex projects.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing accounting and financial review process improvements.
