Are you ready to lead the transformation of Vanguard’s most strategic digital channel? As Head of Mobile Technology, Personal Investor, you will guide a multi-site team of senior managers and technical specialists responsible for our iOS and Android mobile apps—used by millions of U.S. investors daily. With mobile now accounting for over 60% of digital logons, this role is pivotal in shaping the future of our client experience. 

You’ll partner closely with Product, UX, and Data teams to drive innovation and deliver seamless, secure, and scalable mobile solutions. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a strategic, technically adept executive who thrives in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Define and execute the mobile technology strategy, aligning with business goals and client needs. 
  • Lead the planning and implementation of new technologies and major releases for enterprise-wide mobile platforms. 
  • Oversee teams responsible for troubleshooting, configuring, and optimizing mobile systems. 
  • Manage complex infrastructure projects and evaluate long-term solutions for scalability and performance. 
  • Ensure mobile platforms meet business service levels and deliver exceptional client experiences. 
  • Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing technical team, setting clear performance standards and fostering growth. 
  • Represent Vanguard externally at industry events and vendor strategy sessions. 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and adjust strategies to maintain Vanguard’s leadership in mobile innovation.

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in IT/Engineering with significant business exposure. 
  • Proven experience defining tech strategy, vision, and roadmap for consumer-facing mobile apps. 
  • Expertise in iOS and/or Android mobile operating systems and React frameworks. 
  • Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills. 
  • Ability to build trust-based relationships across senior leadership. 
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and team-building capabilities.
