Job Description

As part of a the wider LGC IT organisation, the Head of IT for the Diagnostics & Genomics (D&G) division will lead the strategic direction and delivery of IT solutions and services, aligning them with the division’s commercial, manufacturing, quality, and innovation objectives. Reporting directly to the LGC Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) and indirectly to the General Manager of the D&G business unit, this role will serve as a key member of the D&G Senior Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic IT Leadership: Shape and drive the D&G division’s IT strategy, ensuring technology aligns with business objectives, with a focus on Business Systems, eCommerce, and Enterprise Business Intelligence.
  • IT Planning and Approvals: Oversee IT planning, prioritisation of initiatives and managing the approvals for new IT solutions and services.
  • Solution Delivery: Lead the conception, planning, and delivery of strategic IT initiatives, ensuring seamless integration into the D&G business.
  • Service Management: Guarantee the effective delivery of centrally managed and D&G-specific IT services, aligning them with business requirements.
  • Financial Stewardship: Develop and manage the IT budget, preparing business cases and cost-benefit analyses to justify IT investments.
  • Vendor Management: Foster strategic relationships with external vendors and partners, ensuring value and alignment with business goals.
  • Security and Compliance: Collaborate closely with the CISO Office to maintain and enhance security and compliance across the division.
  • Talent Development: Build and nurture IT talent, ensuring a pipeline of skilled professionals to support the division’s technology needs.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the D&G IT team, ensuring effective performance, engagement, and alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: MBA or Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, business, engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Experience: 15+ years’ experience managing and/or directing an IT operation, ideally with extensive experience in the Life Sciences industry.
  • Delivery: Experience successfully delivering complex, enterprise IT programmes.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with key business applications including eCommerce, CRM and ERP. Demonstrable experience with Business Intelligence/Data Analytics.
  • Leadership: Strategic thought leader with the ability to establish vision and articulate a strong plan of execution. Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to influence diverse range of stakeholders at C Suite level.
  • Integration Experience: Background in mergers & acquisitions and technology integration is a plus.
