Sequencing is building the interface between humanity and its DNA.

Using clinical-grade whole genome sequencing, AI, and a rapidly expanding ecosystem of genomic applications, we help people better understand themselves, their health, and their future through their DNA.

The human genome is one of the most valuable and underutilized resources in the world. Our mission is to transform the human genome into a lifelong source of personalized guidance and build the trusted home for every genome on Earth.

As the world’s largest direct-to-consumer whole genome sequencing platform, Sequencing is helping define the future of AI-powered personalized health.

We’re a profitable, venture-backed, fully remote company building category-defining products that help people better understand themselves through their DNA.

The opportunity

Sequencing is hiring its first Head of Finance & Analytics to build the financial and data infrastructure that powers our next phase of growth. Reporting to the COO, this leader will establish our FP&A function from the ground up, own performance reporting for the executive team and board, and build a scalable analytics capability across Product, Growth, Customer Success, and Operations. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for a builder who can translate complex financial and customer data into clear insights, drive capital discipline, and serve as a trusted strategic partner to the leadership team.

What you'll own

  • Build and own the company's first in-house FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
  • Develop dynamic financial models to support growth scenarios, capital allocation, and subscription revenue forecasting
  • Own monthly and quarterly performance reporting for the executive team and board
  • Partner with the Controller to ensure clean close processes and accurate financial reporting
  • Define and own unit economics including CAC, LTV, contribution margin, and payback period
  • Model subscription retention, cohort performance, and lifetime value dynamics to guide growth investment
  • Oversee paid marketing financing facility and ensure full compliance with reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve gross margin and cash efficiency across the business
  • Build the analytics function from the ground up, supporting Product, Growth, and Customer Success with actionable data
  • Define company-wide KPI frameworks and standardize metric definitions across teams
  • Build dashboards and reporting infrastructure that drive visibility into growth, retention, and engagement
  • Translate behavioral, financial, and operational data into strategic recommendations for leadership
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and COO on capital deployment, vendor relationships, and new initiatives
  • Establish structured financial and KPI review rhythms across the leadership team
  • Hire, develop, and manage a high-performing team of finance and analytics professionals

Who you are

  • 10+ years in finance, FP&A, or strategic analytics, with meaningful experience in high-growth environments
  • Deep experience with subscription or direct-to-consumer business models
  • Expert-level financial modeling skills, including scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and long-range planning
  • Fluency in unit economics: CAC, LTV, retention curves, payback periods, and contribution margin
  • Proven track record building reporting systems and analytics infrastructure from scratch
  • Comfortable working across both financial and complex behavioral or operational datasets
  • Experience presenting financial performance and strategic insights to boards and executive teams
  • Strong cross-functional influencer with a track record of partnering effectively with Growth, Product, and Operations
  • Systems-oriented thinker who brings structure and rigor to ambiguous, early-stage environments
  • High-ownership operator who thrives building foundational teams and processes in a hands-on role
