Job Title: Head of Engineering, Platform Product Line 

Department: Product Development & Delivery  

About the Role

As the Head of Engineering for the Platform Product Line, you will lead engineering managers and cross-functional teams responsible for delivering high-impact, scalable, and innovative solutions on the Unite Us Social Care Delivery Platform. You will serve as a senior technical and organizational leader, partnering closely with Product, UX, Analytics, and Engineering peers across product lines to drive architecture, performance, and strategy. Success in this role requires a strategic mindset, cross-functional leadership, and a focus on building high-performing teams, achieving results, and upholding strong technical standards.

What You'll Do:

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Shape and own the technical strategy for the Platform product line in alignment with organizational goals and cross-product needs.
  • Act as a key thought partner to the Platform Product Owner, ensuring that the roadmap balances technical innovation with customer and business outcomes.
  • Ensure architectural alignment and component reusability across engineering teams and product domains.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing group of engineering managers and their teams, upholding a high bar for performance and accountability.
  • Cultivate a strong team culture that emphasizes continuous improvement, simplicity, and thoughtful technical decision-making.
  • Hire, retain, and mentor top engineering talent to support and maintain delivery excellence.

Execution & Delivery

  • Drive delivery excellence across multiple workstreams and domains by setting clear priorities and ensuring execution against strategic initiatives.
  • Apply and promote expertise in modern Engineering and DevOps practices, and advocate for continual improvement in delivery, quality, and team velocity.
  • Ensure workflows are extensible via APIs and aligned with our platform-first approach.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work across the technology and implementation organizations to ensure end-to-end cohesion and a best-in-class experience for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with peers in Product, Data, Security, Customer Success, and Sales to align on architecture, technical requirements, and product-market fit.

You’re a great fit for this role if:

  • 10+ years of  progressive engineering experience leading multi-team initiatives
  • 5+ years of experience building and managing high-performing teams with a track record of consistently delivering and meeting roadmap commitments
  • 4+ years in the healthcare, digital health or health technology sectors, using Agile delivery methodologies
  • Experience building complex software products within healthcare, payments and/or government settings, with demonstrable success. 
  • Experience working on technical projects with dependencies across multiple domains, teams and technologies
  • Deep experience in designing and implementing solutions in the cloud and validating architecture decisions
  • Expertise in a high-level programming language (JavaScript, Ruby, Golang, etc.)
  • Experience in web development (React (or another JS framework), CSS3, HTML5)
  • Experience with AWS technologies.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position is remote, U.S. based. Strong preference for candidates comfortable working in ET/CT time zones
  • This position may require 5-10% travel
  • The target pay range for this role is: $200,000-$215,000.  This salary range represents our target hiring range for this role. The proposed salary will be dependent on the candidate's skills, experience, and competencies, as well as location.
  • All team members will be required to pass a background check which includes criminal, employment, and education verification
