The Head/Director of AI will lead the development and application of AI technologies for nutrition products, fostering a culture of innovation and experimentation. Key responsibilities include creating scalable AI solutions, integrating multiple AI systems, and driving organizational change towards an AI-first mindset, focusing on measurable user impact and outcomes.
At WISEcode, we're a well-funded, dynamic startup. WISEcode makes personalized nutrition a reality based on the facts – what truly is in our food — and marries this data with your preferences. Powered by AI and the world’s best food and nutrition database, WISEcode embraces the fact that we are all different, have different dietary needs, objectives, and preferences, and should not be at the mercy of market spin or “expert” opinion. Every one of us should have the information we need to make the best decisions for ourselves.
The Head/Director of AI for B2B and B2C Products must be a builder at heart someone with a proven track record of turning practical AI technologies into products that captivate users and drive real-world value. Unlike purely academic researchers focused on novel model development, this leader thrives at the application layer: taking today’s most powerful models, frameworks, and architectures, and applying them creatively to solve complex business and consumer problems. Their strength lies in translating cutting-edge AI capabilities into intuitive, scalable, and differentiated product experiences.
● The individual should bring deep fluency with generative AI models such as GPT, combined with hands-on expertise in agentic architectures, advanced prompt engineering, and model specification design
● They should understand not just how to call an API, but how to orchestrate multiple AI components into systems that feel intelligent, adaptive, and magical to end users.
● Familiarity with building MCP servers and other forms of self-describing APIs will be key, as our long-term strategy involves licensing these servers on a per-call basis to enable external developers, agents, and conversational LLMs to leverage our proprietary nutrition data
● Equally important, this leader must be a cultural change agent.
● The organization is pivoting away from heavy, slow, research-intensive cycles toward a nimble, AI-first mindset where generative AI is embedded into every corner of the business—from code creation to ingredient classification to consumer-facing personalization
● Leader must evangelize that shift across teams, instilling urgency and demonstrating through example how AI can collapse timelines, augment human expertise, and unlock new categories of value.
● They should create an environment where experimentation with AI is not the exception but the norm, inspiring confidence and excitement across both technical and business functions
● AWS and PostgreSQL experience is a strong plus
● The ideal candidate is both visionary and pragmatic
● Chart a bold path forward for AI-driven B2B and B2C products, while also keeping execution grounded in measurable outcomes and user impact. This is not a bottom up engineering leadership position - it is a top down position heavily working back from B2C and B2B customer needs and opportunities.
● Balance creativity with accountability, ensuring that every AI feature shipped has a clear purpose and delivers delight
● A combination of strategic foresight, technical fluency, and organizational leadership will enable them to build the next generation of AI-powered nutrition solutions—and position the company as a trusted leader in AI-driven food technology
