CFA Institute is seeking a visionary Head, Content Technology to lead the next generation of our global digital content and learning ecosystem. In this highly visible leadership role, you will own the strategy, innovation, and operations of our content technology platforms spanning digital publishing, learning technologies, and emerging AI-driven experiences. You’ll shape how our candidates, members, and stakeholders access and engage with content worldwide, from creation and curation to publishing, delivery, and performance analytics.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer and working closely with AI Enablement, Product, Marketing, and business leaders, you’ll drive a modern, scalable content ecosystem that powers world-class learner and member experiences.

What You’ll Do

Set and govern the content technology strategy

  • Develop and execute a long-term content technology roadmap that supports CFA Institute’s strategic objectives and digital transformation agenda.

  • Align strategy across publishing, learning, and AI enablement to create a cohesive, efficient, and scalable content ecosystem.

  • Define and govern standards, workflows, and policies for content creation, curation, publication, and archiving across platforms.

  • Ensure all content platforms and operations adhere to accessibility, compliance, security, and quality standards.

Lead digital publishing and learning platforms

  • Oversee end-to-end operations of digital publishing systems (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, mobile apps, global websites) and learning technologies supporting candidate and member journeys.

  • Lead the modernization of legacy publishing platforms, ensuring seamless integration with learning, data, and analytics ecosystems.

  • Drive the print-to-digital transformation, building automated, scalable publishing workflows that enable omnichannel content delivery.

  • Partner with the Head of AI Enablement to embed generative AI, personalization engines, and intelligent content tagging into production workflows.

Drive performance, analytics, and continuous improvement

  • Define KPIs and measurement frameworks for content performance, user engagement, platform availability, and operational efficiency.

  • Implement analytics dashboards and mechanisms that inform strategic and operational decisions across Technology, Product, and Marketing.

  • Translate data and trend insights into actionable recommendations to improve content reach, effectiveness, and ROI.

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Learning teams to optimize user journeys, conversion, and learner engagement.

Own budgets, resources, and vendors

  • Develop and manage multi-million-dollar budgets for content and learning technology operations.

  • Oversee key vendor relationships and contract negotiations for CMS, LMS/LXP platforms, analytics tools, and AI services.

  • Prioritize investments and resourcing based on business impact, scalability, resilience, and sustainability.

  • Build and lead high-performing global teams, fostering collaboration across a matrixed organization.

Champion innovation and emerging technologies

  • Identify, evaluate, and pilot emerging technologies (e.g., AI-driven content creation, augmented reality learning, voice interfaces, intelligent automation) to enhance user experiences.

  • Partner closely with AI Enablement and data leaders to operationalize new AI capabilities in content workflows and personalization.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and learning, ensuring CFA Institute remains at the forefront of digital publishing and learning innovation.


 

What You’ll Bring – Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, digital media, educational technology, or a related field.

  • 15+ years of experience in educational technology, publishing, or digital content management, including leadership of enterprise-scale content operations.

  • Proven track record leading print-to-digital transformation and managing AI-based digital content ecosystems.

  • Demonstrated expertise with digital publishing platforms, learning management systems (LMS/LXP), and cloud-based content delivery networks.

  • Strong leadership experience managing global teams, budgets, and vendors in a matrixed environment.

  • Deep understanding of content strategy, metadata management, SEO, and analytics platforms.

  • Ability to synthesize data, technology trends, and business needs into clear strategic decisions and roadmaps.

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership behaviors aligned to our Leadership Capabilities, including strategic thinking, courage, authenticity, talent development, growth mindset, accountability, and agility.

What You’ll Bring – Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s in Information Systems, Computer Science, Digital Media, or MBA).

  • Experience in professional education, assessment, certification, or membership-based organizations.

  • Hands-on familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar enterprise CMS, and modern learning ecosystems (LMS/LXP, DAM, CRM, marketing automation).

  • Experience integrating AI/ML, personalization engines, or recommendation systems into content and learning platforms.

  • Background leading large-scale platform modernization, re-platforming, or cloud migration initiatives.

  • Demonstrated success driving organizational change in complex, global environments.

  • Comfort navigating the intersection of technology, content, and business strategy, with an “outside-in” perspective on trends in digital experiences and learning.

Compensation & Benefits Transparency

At CFA Institute, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring process. In compliance with wage transparency laws in many of the jurisdictions in which we recruit, we provide the following information regarding compensation for this position:

Expected salary range: $195,000 - $235,000
 

Other benefits include eligibility for annual incentives, 12% retirement employer contribution, and competitive medical benefits.
