ABOUT US

Trusted by 900,000 monthly active users, UpCodes (YC S17) is a comprehensive compliance and product research platform that accelerates design to construction in the AEC space. The construction industry suffers from unnecessary costs and complexity; every year billions of dollars are wasted on rework. We’re committed to delivering easy-to-use tools that help designers and builders spend less time finding the right compliance and product resources and more time doing what they love — designing and building. We make a real world tangible impact on the lives of our users and their work of constructing our homes, schools, hospitals, and offices.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Data is at the heart of our product. Not only do we consolidate data from hundreds of sources, the data continually evolves over time. We invest heavily in internal tooling and automated systems to power the backend. We also have a large team that researches and helps oversee and QA this process. Today in our code library we have over 6M+ sections of building code with over 7K being updated every month on average. We are also expanding into new content categories like the assemblies library and building product library.

In this role, you will lead the team and continue to invest in our internal tech, tooling, and processes. You will collaborate with our talented team of Content Managers, and Content contractors, working cross functionally with Product and Engineering as we continue to scale the product and user base.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Head of Content Operations, you’ll have a direct and significant impact on the company's future. At UpCodes, you’ll be responsible for...

  • Overseeing content team operations: Working closely with management to help set goals for the content team and manage both our internal and contractor team.

  • Workflow & process management: Developing and refining workflows and internal tooling to streamline Content process and drive towards company goals.

  • Content strategy & planning: Collaborating with Content, Product, Sales, and Customer Success teams to align content with company goals.

  • Data & performance analytics: Using data to measure content performance and inform future content strategy.

  • Tool & technology management: Overseeing the tools used in content management (like CMS platforms, analytics tools, and project management software) and ensuring the team has the right tech stack to do their work efficiently.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Experienced: Over 7 years (including 2+ years of management) in a tech company involved in managing large data sets or content.

  • Process-oriented: You have a proven track record of designing, implementing, optimizing, and scaling operational processes. You excel at juggling multiple projects efficiently while maintaining a keen attention to detail.

  • Data-driven: You use data to set the right objectives and find the most effective solutions. Your decisions are backed by clear, defendable reasoning, but you also appreciate the role of intuition and conviction.

  • Open to feedback: You’re good at managing feedback and using it as a driving force for your work. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple initiatives and perspectives simultaneously while maintaining an optimistic outlook. You're open-minded and not afraid to learn through trial and error, with the ability to navigate complex challenges with versatility and adaptability.

  • You sweat the small stuff: As a detail-oriented person, you raise the team's standards for quality and attention to detail.

  • Work cross-functionally: You are comfortable working across multiple functions and coordinating collective wisdom to drive the product forward.

  • Expert communication and documentation: Whether it’s a project brief, launch plan, or Slack message, all communication, you can communicate efficiently in writing.
