About Us

OpenFX is on a mission to move money as freely as data, unrestricted by time zones, banking hours, or legacy systems. We are building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of cross-border payment systems for institutions. The team's execution has been exceptional, and we're scaling at a remarkable pace. Our stellar early team comes with experience in companies like J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, FalconX, PayPal, Affirm, Polygon, Kraken, Nium & others. We’re backed by Accel, Lightspeed, NfX, and other top-tier investors.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Head of Business Development to lead OpenFX’s expansion into new institutional verticals beyond our existing ICPs (e.g., fintechs, remittance companies, and PSPs). This role will identify, validate, and acquire the first customers in each new market segment — then design the repeatable go-to-market playbooks that regional sales teams can scale globally.
You’ll thrive here if you’re a commercial founder-type — someone who can go from hypothesis → validation → monetization → scale.

Responsibilities & Expectation
s

  • Market Discovery & Strategy Development
    • Identify and evaluate new industry verticals with strong alignment to OpenFX’s value proposition.
    • Lead market research and opportunity validation, shaping data-driven entry strategies for each vertical.
    • Translate industry insights into actionable GTM hypotheses and strategic roadmaps.
  • Customer Acquisition & Relationship Building
    • Establish OpenFX as a trusted FX and payments infrastructure partner in emerging sectors.
    • Build executive-level relationships with institutional clients and convert early opportunities into long-term partnerships.
    • Serve as a strategic advisor to clients, helping them optimize global flow, liquidity, and trading efficiency.
  • Go-to-Market Design & Enablement
    • Architect scalable go-to-market playbooks — including ICP definitions, messaging, pricing frameworks, and outbound strategies.
    • Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Heads of New Business to align value propositions, collateral, and commercial execution.
    • Equip regional teams with the tools, narratives, and processes needed to scale new verticals globally.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to align new vertical feedback with roadmap priorities.
    • Work with Marketing to drive awareness, positioning, and thought leadership across targeted industries.
    • Ensure strong cross-functional execution across Sales, Client Success, and Revenue Operations.
  • Industry Presence & Strategic Growth
    • Represent OpenFX at key fintech, payments, and treasury events to build brand credibility.
    • Identify strategic partnerships and ecosystem collaborations that accelerate vertical growth.
    • Drive measurable business outcomes through a blend of innovation, strategic foresight, and disciplined execution.

What we are looking for

  • Executive presence with the ability to develop trust and close partnerships at the C-level.
  • Data-driven decision-maker with the ability to synthesize discovery insights into commercial strategy.
  • Entrepreneurial, outcome-oriented operator who thrives in ambiguity and moves with urgency.

What helps you stand out

  • Experience launching or scaling a new product line or regional business in fintech or payments.
  • Familiarity with embedded FX, digital asset infrastructure, or institutional crypto.
  • Strong commercial instincts, with the ability to design and structure complex deals.
  • Established network across payments, PSPs, or treasury-tech ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional alignment in fast-scaling environments.

What We Offer
