Reporting to the Vice-President Finance, Head of Global Business Services (GBS), the Director, Head of Global Payroll is responsible to develop, manage, and oversee all Payroll and Time-keeping services globally. This function is angular to the success of our GBS organization and the experience we strive to provide to all our employees. Global Payroll is comprised by a team of payroll professionals across 4 regions; North America, Latam, EMEA and APAC. The head of the function will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll process across all countries, leading a global team, managing the relationship with our third-party service providers, and oversee the execution of payroll process improvements across the globe.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute the global payroll strategy, aligning with business objectives and compliance requirements
- Oversee end-to-end global payroll and time-keeping operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing across 45 countries.
- Oversee and manage the relationship with our 3rd party payroll service.
- Ensure compliance with global payroll regulations tax and country laws and requirements.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of payroll processes
- In alignment with Human Resources, Legal, Benefits and other departments, develop global payroll policies and controls to ensure consistent practices and compliance and to drive a more connected Hire to Retire end to end process.
- Stay updated with evolving payroll regulations and industry trends in global payroll management.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess payroll performance and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders for audits and compliance checks.
- Lead global payroll projects, such as system implementations, upgrades, and payroll harmonization initiatives.
- Manages the performance of the team by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
- Communicate and exemplify UL's Vision and Mission.
- Lead, promote and embrace change for self and future team.
- Collaborate and build trust within the organization and with internal and external customers to meet or exceed their expectations.
- Develop strong, flexible cross-functional networks and global relationships to promote becoming the fastest, highest quality and most customer-friendly organization. Coach and mentor employees to do the same.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree - Masters Degree preferred
- 15+ years of direct related experience, including 8 years of relevant management/leadership experience.
- Proven experience overseeing global payroll operations
- In-depth knowledge of global payroll processes, regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements across multiple countries and regions; an important focus is on payroll management of EMEA countries.
- Strong understanding of payroll related regulations globally.
- Excellent understanding of HR and Payroll systems and integration between both
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
Able to manage multiple projects within different geographic regions simultaneously. - Team player that can collaborate and communicate with people across all levels and functions
