About Scope3

Scope3 is building the future of advertising for an AI-driven world. Global brands rely on us to grow safely and sustainably, and by combining sustainability, media quality, brand safety, and fraud detection, we deliver measurably better performance and control for advertisers.

Scope3 has established clear industry leadership through rapid innovation. In October 2024, we secured a $25M financing led by GV, Venrock, and Craft Ventures to expand into AI and introduced the first methodology for measuring AI-related carbon emissions in advertising. In November 2024, the acquisition of Adloox, created a comprehensive multi-signal verification platform. In 2025, we launched the Scope3 Agentic Advertising Platform—the industry's first platform for designing and deploying AI agents to dynamically optimize media investments.

Scope3 is not retrofitting AI into a decades-old infrastructure. We’ve reimagined the media buying process from the ground up with AI at its core. This approach enables brands and their partners to train and deploy specialized agents that make superior decisions informed by rich, source-level media intelligence, wherever digital media is sold.

Scope3 is a fully remote and largely asynchronous organization, enabling global collaboration and flexibility, with concentrations in New York and Europe. We partner with 150+ leading brands and agencies, alongside over 100publishers and platforms across North America, EMEA, and APAC. At this time, we have employees in Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands and the United States.

About the Role

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will serve as a strategic finance leader, driving the financial integrity and operational foundation behind a company redefining how global advertising works in the AI era. This leader will be responsible for all accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and treasury management, ensuring Scope3 scales with precision  as our agentic advertising platform experiences rapid growth. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in marketplace or platform business models with experience managing complex revenue recognition, multi-currency operations, and international subsidiary compliance.

For this position, we are looking to hire in the US, specifically located within Eastern Standard Time to optimize for global collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the company's month-end and quarter-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Own consolidated financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external functions including investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies

  • Oversee global payroll operations and ensure compliance with local regulations
  • Collaborate with functional leads to build out and refine budget reporting, variance analysis, and financial planning processes
  • Develop and maintain robust accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures to support the company's growth trajectory
  • Partner closely with FP&A, Legal, and Operations teams to support strategic initiatives and business expansion
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, building capability and capacity as the organization scales
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency

Previous Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; active CPA license required
  • 10-15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience with significant time in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
  • Scale-up or high-growth company experience required, preferably in enterprise adtech, marketplace, or platform businesses

  • Marketplace or platform experience with understanding of transaction clearing and complex revenue recognition
  • Experience managing and consolidating legal entities across multiple jurisdictions with different functional currencies
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and international accounting standards
  • Strong technical accounting skills with ability to research and document complex accounting treatments

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Advertising technology, media, or internet industries
  • Usage-based or consumption-based billing models
  • ASC 606 revenue recognition in complex, multi-element arrangements
  • Wayfair ruling tax matters and nexus considerations for digital services
  • Working remotely in globally distributed startup environments
  • Treasury management in multi-currency environments

Our Culture & Values

  • Transparency and shared learning. We believe in building and learning in public, embracing collaborative design, and ensuring knowledge flows freely across the organization. We have no gatekeepers—everyone has access to the information they need to do their best work and contribute to our collective growth.
  • Clear and empathetic communication, especially while working asynchronously. We have always been a global, remote-first company and we collaborate using Notion, Miro, Slack, Loom, and other tools.
  • We celebrate healthy conflict in the workplace; we focus on the solutions and we move on quickly.
  • The ability and accountability to deliver what we promise. We do what we say we will do, and we don't make promises we can't keep.
  • Experience driving systemic change. Our mission is to transform advertising for the AI era and this requires a holistic approach to re-imagining and inspiring an industry movement at a global scale.
