Our challenge

As a GCP Cloud Architect, candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust cloud solutions that meet the needs of our clients. Candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and secure cloud architectures. This role requires a deep understanding of Google Cloud services and best practices, as well as strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $215k - $240k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Design: Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions using Google Cloud services (e.g., Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, API Gateway).
  • Client Consultation: Engage with clients to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, recommend best practices for cloud adoption and migration.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with business development teams to build client proposals and to respond to formal bids. 
  • Technical Leadership: Lead architectural reviews and provide technical direction to development teams, ensuring alignment with established Google Cloud standards and practices.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment plans, and operational procedures.
  • Performance Optimization: Evaluate existing cloud infrastructures and identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement.
  • Availability and Reliability: Design and implement strategies to ensure high availability and reliability of cloud solutions, including failover mechanisms, disaster recovery, and redundancy planning.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure that cloud solutions adhere to industry security standards and compliance requirements, implementing necessary controls and monitoring.
  • Automation: Extoll the virtues of an “automate everything” mentality to help our clients extract maximum value from their Cloud investments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, DevOps, development, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of solutions.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest Google Cloud developments, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve cloud architecture practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of overall professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture and solution design, with a focus on Google Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of Google Cloud services and modern architecture best-practice (e.g. event-based, serverless).
  • Demonstrable experience designing and building foundational Landing Zone services and integrations
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficient in scripting and infrastructure automation (e.g., Terraform, Python, Infrastructure Manager).
  • Familiarity with use of CI/CD pipelines and a strong proponent of DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of adjacent core technologies including Networking and Identity & Access Management
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) practices
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to break down requirements into actionable tasks and communicate these to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset suited to a dynamic support environment
  • Experience with other Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, OCI) is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in financial services (banking/vendor/consulting) or other highly regulated industry is highly desirable.
  • Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect
  • Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Data Engineer
