About Future

At Future, we believe that personal connection is the key to progress. Our mission is to make world-class coaching accessible to everyone, helping people unlock their full potential through expert guidance, motivation, and accountability. As a digital personal training platform, we deliver highly personalized coaching, tailoring workout plans and support to each individual’s goals - all through a seamless app experience.

Since launching in 2017, Future has grown from a brainstorm in a San Francisco cafe into the nation’s largest provider of personal training sessions. In January 2025, Future announced its merger with Autograph, the company founded by 7x World Champion and entrepreneur Tom Brady. We’re poised for massive growth as we expand our brand, forge new partnerships with some of the world’s most iconic athletes, and harness AI to enhance and scale our coaching experience.

As we continue to grow, we’re investing in cutting-edge technology, deepening our roster of elite coaches, and building new partnerships. If you're passionate about shaping the future of fitness, come join us - we’re just getting started.

About the Role

We are looking for a Frontend Engineer (React) to join our team and play a key role in evolving our codebase and enhancing the experience for our clients and internal performance team. You’ll help design and implement systems and features on both externally facing (e.g. website, blog, and growth marketing tools) and custom internal (e.g. trainer dashboard and internal admin tools) tools that support Future’s day-to-day operations, all while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional, user-centered products.

This role is an opportunity to be part of a team that prioritizes design, user experience, and technical excellence. You will have an opportunity to collaborate with talented individuals across design, product, and engineering to build impactful products; work on challenging, meaningful projects that delight users and push the boundaries of what’s possible in fitness technology; and shape the frontend engineering standards and processes that will support Future’s next phase of growth.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about crafting beautiful, performant user interfaces with an eye for design details and a commitment to quality. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contribute to internal processes and standards, and make a meaningful impact on Future’s front-end architecture.

You will:

  • Build responsive, intuitive, and visually stunning user interfaces for our web and trainer experiences using React and modern JavaScript tools.
  • Collaborate with designers and product managers to translate designs into polished, production-ready features that align with UX best practices.
  • Ensure UIs function seamlessly across devices and screen sizes, creating a consistent, high-quality user experience.
  • Update and enhance the codebase to support Future’s growth, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Establish and uphold front-end engineering standards, ensuring code quality, consistency, and reliability across the team.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks, working proactively to deliver fast, smooth user experiences.
  • Partner with backend engineers and data scientists to integrate features, ship experiments, and ensure seamless functionality.
  • Work closely with the design team to refine aesthetics and maintain attention to detail in every project.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration by sharing best practices, driving quality performance, and fostering innovation.

You have:

  • 5+ years of professional experience (outside of education and passion projects) developing and shipping real-world, consumer-facing web applications.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript (especially React, bonus points for React in a Next.js context)
  • Proficiency with tools and libraries such as Redux, TypeScript, and Webpack, leveraging them to create high-quality, efficient code.
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS (including CSS-in-JS like styled-components), and responsive design principles.
  • Enjoy taking ownership of features from concept to deployment, ensuring they meet user needs and align with business objectives.
  • Advocate for the evolution of internal processes, tools, and frameworks to enhance team productivity and alignment.
  • Motivated to use your design sensibilities to balance technical feasibility with an exceptional user experience to develop high-quality customer-centric solutions.
  • Experience delivering cohesive solutions through collaboration within cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and backend engineers.
  • A keen eye for design and aesthetics, with a passion for creating pixel-perfect implementations.
  • A solid grasp of both client-side performance optimization and cross-browser compatibility considerations and server-side rendering and integration with backend MVC frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, self-driven mindset.
  • A desire to contribute to a fast-paced, startup environment where agility and collaboration are key.

Compensation, Benefits & Life at Future:
  • Salary range: $165,000 - 180,000/ year + equity. The salary range is set based on multiple considerations including business needs, market demands, talent availability, experience, and unique skills and attributes. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
