About Us:

BridgeHealthAI is on a mission to eradicate health disparities for underserved families by simplifying the fragmented and complicated health and community benefits navigation journey. Over 100 million people in the U.S. struggle to access basic services like food, housing, insurance, and transportation due to outdated, fragmented systems. We’re transforming how care teams support these individuals—faster, easier, and more equitably than ever before.

We’re building an AI-native care coordination platform that enables care workers to help patients access, enroll in, and understand their benefits in minutes—not months. Our solution uses cutting-edge LLMs and intuitive design to support the people who support patients.

BridgeHealthAI is an early-stage start-up born out of Harvard and MIT, and backed by top healthcare investors, including Pear VC, Flare Capital, and Glen Tullman (7wireVentures, Transcarent, Livongo). If you're a thoughtful, action-oriented builder who wants to create real impact in healthcare and scale a product from the ground up—we want to hear from you.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Founding Engineer) with expertise in both frontend and backend development and a passion for building AI-native products. In this role you will help shape the foundation of a product already gaining traction with major healthcare organizations across the country. You’ll contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software applications while ensuring the successful integration of advanced language models and scalable infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
  • Full Stack Engineering: Build and own end-to-end features across the stack, including React (frontend), Kotlin + Python (backend), and PostgreSQL (database).

  • AI/ML Integration: Lead development of LLM-integrated features using state-of-the-art language models.

  • Infrastructure & Pipelines: Architect data pipelines and infrastructure for referrals, benefits data, and real-time AI workflows.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, clinical, AI, and design teams to shape the roadmap and iterate quickly.

  • Architecture & Scale: Make key architectural decisions as we scale from pilots to a national platform.

  • Engineering Culture: Contribute to best practices, code quality, and a high-trust, low-ego environment.

  • Speed & Feedback Loops: Ship fast, iterate on feedback from real users, and help grow the team.

Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in full stack engineering (ideally at a startup or fast-paced product team).

  • Mastery in either backend or frontend, with flexibility and interest in working across the stack.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to write clean, testable, and scalable code.

  • Experience working with or eagerness to learn LLMs and OpenAI technologies.

  • Ability to deploy code end-to-end. Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines.

  • Deep care for health equity and using technology for real-world impact.

  • Excitement about building from scratch, iterating quickly, and collaborating cross-functionally.

Tech Stack:
  • Frontend: React.js, TypeScript

  • Backend: Kotlin, Python

  • Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes

  • Database: PostgreSQL

  • AI/ML: OpenAI

  • DevOps: CI/CD, GitHub

Innovative Culture & Tools:

BridgeHealthAI is AI-first by design. We foster a culture of openness, speed, and thoughtful iteration. Our engineers use tools like ChatGPT, Cursor, and VS Code to move faster and build smarter. We believe in clarity, purpose, and using the best of AI to power real impact.

Why Join Us?
  • Mission-driven work: Help close health equity gaps for over 100M people.

  • Strong backing: Pear VC, Flare Capital, and Glen Tullman.

  • Customer traction: Piloting with leading payors and providers.

  • Early team: Help shape product, culture, and hiring as a founding member.

  • High-trust environment: Speed, purpose, and no bureaucracy.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary and equity packages relevant to your experience.

  • Career growth: Choose your path—IC or leadership—with real mentorship and responsibility.

Location & Work Setup (Remote)

The team is based in Chicago, New York, and SF, but we are open to remote candidates as long as they are strong with team collaboration.
