The Opportunity
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Flock Safety, you will be at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge solutions to our clients' most challenging problems. You will collaborate directly with customers to understand their needs, design and implement technical solutions, and ensure the successful deployment and integration of our products. This role combines software engineering, systems integration, and client engagement, requiring a unique blend of technical prowess and interpersonal skills.
What You’ll Do:
On-site troubleshooting and resolution of integration bottlenecks.
Light scripting (SQL queries, data transforms).
Research and adapt to new systems (approx. 20% of time).
Serve as technical liaison with customers, instilling confidence and managing multi-stakeholder environments.
Collaborate with engineering, integration managers, and implementation teams, including product managers and other engineers, to enhance product features based on client feedback.
Engage with clients to identify and understand their complex technical challenges.
Design, develop, and deploy scalable software solutions tailored to client needs.
Integrate and optimize our products within diverse client environments, ensuring seamless operation.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting during and after deployment, ensuring client satisfaction.
Contribute to the development of internal tools and processes to improve deployment efficiency and effectiveness.
About You:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Open to 25-50% travel to client sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in data analysis, machine learning, or big data technologies.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
Prior experience in a client-facing or consulting role.
Security clearance or the ability to obtain one, if required for specific clients.

Independently own deployment onboarding.
Refine and iterate content and processes.
Continue scaling documentation and improve delivery quality.

Drive consistency in onboarding and training.
Share findings and playbooks with internal teams.
Lay the groundwork for scale and repeatability.
The Interview Process

Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are.
The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
Salary & Equity
In this role, you’ll receive a salary up to $130,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
