The Financial Planning & Coaching Specialist role is an exciting opportunity to join the growing Financial Planning & Coaching (FP&C) Team in Vanguard’s Financial Advisor Services (FAS), Advisor Solutions department. In this role, candidates will fulfill FAS’s mission of being the “advisor to the advisor” and engage with a variety of FAS clients as a sought after and valued expert.   

 

Responsibilities will include serving as an ambassador, presenting and/or consulting with advisors, and at times, their end-clients. In addition, FP&C Specialists support our FAS Sales crew in upskilling and positioning the offer to their clients. And finally, as a Senior Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in expanding and enhancing the growing portfolio of financial planning solutions we offer to advisors. Examples of topics currently included in our portfolio include: Health Care Cost Planning, Social Security Planning, Tax Planning, Legacy & Estate Planning, Retirement Income, and Behavioral Coaching.  

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Ambassadorship - Serve as an ambassador on select financial planning solutions, representing VG in 1-many events and 1:1 advisor consultations. 

  • Sales Enablement – Serve as a “go to” expert for FAS Sales on the Financial Planning & Coaching Offer.  Also responsible for training FAS Sales on these topics and providing resources to aid Sales in distribution efforts. 

  • Offer Evolution - Provide expert consultation in solution development and enhancement discussions. 

  • Content origination: Contribute to authoring new advisor and end-client content and presentations to support offer distribution via both Sales and Marketing. 

  • Stakeholder Management – Serve as a liaison to FAS Sales and advice partners throughout the enterprise. 

 

Key attributes for success: 

  • Deep expertise in financial planning topics and a passion for educating clients on these topics. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to make complex topics understandable for audiences with varying degrees of acumen.  

  • Client-centric mindset to provide unique solutions to Sales and advisor inquiries. 

  • Relationship management skills to build effective partnerships across FAS and the enterprise to drive business results. 

  • Comfort in operating independently and managing ambiguity, to problem-solve and present recommendations. 

  • Strong business and organizational acumen to optimize how we serve our clients and contribute to FAS’s divisional goals. 

 

What it takes: 

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience. Five years of experience in advice or client facing roles preferred. 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. 

  • CFP strongly preferred or willingness to pursue. 

  • This job requires a Series 7 and 63 license. 

  • Travel to support in-person client events will be required, with approximately five business days per month “in field.” 

  • Base Pay Range (US) – 120,000 – 210,000
