ABOUT THE ROLE:   

Performs a wide range of complex analytical and high-level support functions. With limited supervision, this position applies analytical skills to provide consistent data and reporting support for Corporate Banking. This role may also provide oversight of Associates, Analysts and CAPs (Commercial Associate Program) to ensure the production of a high-quality work product. Manages and maintains complex models and presentation materials so that they are accurate and up-to-date and meet the needs and objectives of the team. Develops industry knowledge and transaction support for the Corporate Banking team in a given group or industry vertical. 

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for clients and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive client experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.  

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Build and understand complex financial models  

  • Perform complex financial analysis with minimal oversight 

  • Create high-impact presentation materials using PowerPoint, Excel, Word and other relevant software programs 

  • Strong understanding of capital structures and capital market trends and the ability to apply to client needs 

  • Support execution of Debt Capital markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Advisory transactions 

  • Complete credit and financial statement analysis independently 

  • Coordinate with product partners to develop complex integrated financing solutions and pitch materials for our clients 

  • Work well as part of a team in a high stress environment 

  • Develop strong working relationships with peers, product partners and senior bankers throughout the organization 

  • Manage priorities while working on a number of high priority opportunities simultaneously 

  • Provide support to the Capital Markets businesses by assessing whether securities products and capital markets services would be appropriate for a particular client and working with the Capital Markets teams to provide those products and services to clients. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree preferred. 

  • 5 – 7 years of experience in Structured Finance Banking, Investment Banking, M&A or Capital Markets. 

  • 5 - 7 years of experience of asset transaction management in the residential mortgage and/or consumer industry sectors.

  • Strong credit, corporate finance and underwriting skills required. 

  • Proven track record of success in working as a part of a team to originate and close complex financial transactions. 

  • Excellent presentation skills, both oral and written required. 

  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79 and 63, licenses required within Fifth Third guidelines. 

  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to synthesize financial data and trends. 

  • Strong command of financial modeling and valuation techniques.  

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.  

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.  

  • Familiarity with financial databases and platforms such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, or FactSet.  

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required securities licenses in accordance with company policy.  

SKILLS FOR SUCCESS: Successful candidates will demonstrate a higher degree of proficiency (typically from 48 years of practical experience or advanced academic exposure) across the following areas:  

  • Execution Leadership: Anticipate roadblocks, manage critical paths, and ensure on-time, on-quality delivery across complex engagements.  

  • Client Impact: Elevate client dialogue with insights on valuation, credit, process strategy, and market dynamics.  

  • Commercial Acumen: Support origination with idea generation and identify cross-sell opportunities across the platform.  

  • Team Building: Develop junior talent through structured feedback, training moments, and role-modeling of best practices.  

  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate operational, reputational, and compliance risks.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
