PPD®, our Clinical Research portfolio, is a leading global contract research organization (CRO). We provide comprehensive, integrated drug development, laboratory, and lifecycle management services. Our customers include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, academic and government organizations.

Our PPD group is seeking a Financial Controls & Data Analytics Audit Manager to oversee and manage audit controls and compliance activities for two large, global divisions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, safeguarding assets, and enhancing the overall financial health of the organization.

This role can be remote, but in proximity to Raleigh or Wilmington NC for occasional office visits.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate audit schedules, coordinating with internal departments to gather needed information.
  • Leading external and internal audit activities, reviewing financial statements and accounting records
  • Identify areas of risk and assess effectiveness of internal controls; design and implement new financial controls as needed.
  • Analyze audit findings and prepare detailed reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Stay up to date on changes in regulations and accounting standards.
  • Manage a small team of Analysts; provide training and development opportunities, evaluate performance of audit team members.
  • Identify opportunities for improving processes and efficiency, including new tools and technologies to enhance audit effectiveness.
  • Support months end financial close activities as part of the global Financial Controls & Data Analytics Team.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous finance and audit experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years’ experience) 
  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility
  • Auditing experience in a big 4 public accounting firm preferred.
  • In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong project leadership and consultancy skills with ability to function as an effective and respected partner to internal clients.
  • Effective management skills
  • Broad knowledge of accounting/finance/audit principles and best practices with effective analytical and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated business acumen with ability to understand complex organizational structures and environments.
  • Advanced level of skill in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentation of data
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively balance and deliver against competing demands.
  • Ability to effectively leverage financial systems.
  • Skilled in financial controls and internal audit procedures

Salary Transparency

This is a salaried role that will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Compensation will be initially discussed during the screening period, with actual compensation confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
