Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

The Core FP&A team is part of the broader FP&A team. Our main objective is to provide CFO-level partnerships to the following organizations within Coinbase: Trust & Risk, People Success Team, Platform Engineering Team, Finance Team, and Security Team. This role is specifically to support the Trust & Risk and Platform team.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Support the development of the annual budget and ongoing forecasting processes, including variance analysis and trend identification.
  • Review month-end close activities in collaboration with the Accounting team and be a subject matter expert for the Trust & Risk and Platform Teams at Coinbase.
  • Support in creating business review materials and presentations with functional leadership.
  • Support in developing tools and resources to drive insights related to budget allocation, attribution analysis and financial reporting which will guide decision making.
  • Work cross-functionally with key partners on P&L forecasting, headcount management and ad hoc analysis.
  • Support in developing impactful, compelling presentation materials (decks, notes, write-ups, backup materials, etc.) that effectively communicates financial projections, drivers, business performance, risks and opportunities to leadership.
  • Support with ad-hoc analysis and special projects as requested by senior management.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 3+ years of relevant Financial Analyst experience in FP&A in a fast paced environment, investment banking, or similar.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated success delivering process improvements working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to summarize the key details of a complex topic for an executive audience.
  • The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and can-do attitude.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with visualization tools (Looker, etc.) and financial software (Anaplan, Coupa, NetSuite, etc.) is a plus.
  • SQL experience working with large datasets and creating data visualization tools. (Python and SQL skills are a plus.)
  • Experience with financial tech, crypto or traditional financial services.
