The Role

Block is committed to fair lending as a core pillar of how we design and build our products, shaping the way we develop, test, and scale products. The Fair & Responsible Lending Lead, reporting to Block's Head of Consumer Protection, will lead the strategy and daily operation of Block's Fair & Responsible Lending Program. The role sets clear standards, partners with development and platform teams to embed fair lending into Block's development pipelines, builds continuous and scalable frameworks for monitoring and control, and provides reporting to senior leadership and the Board.
You Will
  • Draft and update Program documentation (policies, standards, and procedures) in partnership with Model Risk Management function
  • Build continuous, scalable, and auditable frameworks for testing, monitoring, and documenting compliance
  • Partner with technical teams to embed fair lending checks directly into pipelines, workflows, and monitoring frameworks
  • Conduct attribute and model reviews and manage related remediations and escalations, while also providing effective independent challenge to model efficacy and helping teams move quickly within clear guardrails
  • Build scalable, automated processes for testing, monitoring, and documentation that reduce cost while strengthening compliance
  • Make recommendations with the support of Regulatory Counsel, technical, and business teams to design practical mitigations
  • Develop and maintain required reporting requirements
  • Partner with technical teams to design and oversee testing frameworks. Ensure statistical testing is conducted against clear quantitative standards, review outputs in collaboration with technical teams, and translate results into practical business and compliance implications.

You Have
  • 8+ years of Fair & Responsible Lending/MRM compliance and/or legal oversight, with experience in FinTech lending compliance
  • Proven experience developing and managing large scale Fair Lending Compliance Oversight programs applied to modern product and modeling practices
  • Strong knowledge of ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP, FCRA, and SR 11-7, and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, quantitative standards and operational controls
  • Familiarity with contemporary modeling approaches and comfort working directly with technical teams to design fair-lending testing and mitigation strategies
  • Experience embedding compliance controls into development pipelines and monitoring frameworks, making them consistent, repeatable, and auditable
  • Ability to influence others and gain support around compliance goals.
  • Work with team members of all levels

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
