About the Team:

The Functional Test Team is a newly established subdivision of the Environmental Test Lab, serving as the central hub for avionics production testing. The team is responsible for performing functional checks on avionics hardware before and after environmental testing, ensuring hardware meets testing requirements before progressing through production.

Working closely with the Vibration and Thermal Test teams, the Functional Test Team plays a critical role in streamlining test operations, improving throughput, and supporting the delivery of flight-ready hardware for Terran R.

This is a first-shift position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. PT. The role is structured around a 50-hour workweek, including 10 guaranteed overtime hours each week.

About the Role

As a Functional Test Specialist, you will perform a variety of functional tests and inspections on avionics hardware before and after environmental testing. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong attention to detail, the ability to follow technical procedures, and a commitment to safety and quality.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform functional testing of avionics hardware using product-specific test racks and equipment
  • Conduct low-pressure pneumatic testing of avionics enclosures to verify leakage remains within specified tolerances
  • Execute rate table testing, camera focusing, electrical bond measurements, and visual inspections
  • Follow established test procedures to ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable results
  • Operate safely in electrostatic discharge (ESD) controlled environments and around high-voltage equipment
  • Document test results, communicate findings, and escalate issues or abnormalities to the appropriate engineering or test teams
  • Collaborate with the Vibration and Thermal Test teams to support efficient hardware flow through environmental testing
About You
  • Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn and operate technical test software and equipment
  • Foundational understanding of electrical theory and basic electrical principles
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and accurately execute written technical instructions and test procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and communicate technical information
  • Ability to work independently, manage assigned tasks, and take ownership of test execution with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset when working with sensitive hardware and test equipment
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn new testing methods and equipment
Nice to Have

This is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals with strong technical aptitude who are interested in developing a career in aerospace testing. Previous environmental or functional testing experience is not required.

The following experience is beneficial but not required:

  • Technical or vocational training in electronics, electrical systems, aerospace technology, or a related field
  • Experience working with electronic hardware, test equipment, or basic electrical measurements
  • Familiarity with ESD handling procedures or working with sensitive electronic components
  • Exposure to manufacturing, production testing, quality inspection, or laboratory environments
  • Experience reading technical drawings, work instructions, or test procedures
  • Basic familiarity with troubleshooting electronic systems or test equipment
