What You Will Be Doing
As our first Business Development Representative, you’ll play a foundational role in building our go-to-market engine. You'll be targeting some of the largest international General Contractors, initiating high-value conversations with senior decision-makers, and shaping the future of sales at Slate.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Create new business opportunities to fuel Slate’s growth
- Partner with an Account Executive to achieve mutually aligned sales quotas each month
- Engage construction professionals through phone, email, and other channels to understand their challenges and identify opportunities to solve them
- Have the autonomy to operate beyond your role and help the team improve our process, training, use of technology, and any other aspects of our business
- Work with sales management to develop targeted lists, call strategies, and messaging to create opportunities for new business
- Conduct daily activities including:
- Pre-call research and planning
- Make a high volume of calls per day
- Follow-up with previous contacts (nurturing leads)
- Maintain HubSpot records
What we’re looking for:
- Desire to pursue a career in Enterprise Sales
- Construction industry experience
- Will to achieve results—the curiosity and perseverance to push harder when the going gets tough
- Hunter mindset – This role is 90% outbound
- Commitment to lifelong learning and continuous development
- Able to receive feedback/coaching and adapt to overcome challenges
Bonus Points:
- 1+ years’ experience in outbound sales/prospecting
- SaaS Sales experience ideal
- Entrepreneur mindset
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
- $60,000 base salary + commission (potential over $90,000 OTE)
