We’re actively seeking a talented Enterprise Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team in Newport Beach, CA or Charlotte, NC. Expectations for the role include spearheading technology direction, technology adoption, and technology experimentation.

As the Enterprise Architect overseeing architecture in our Workforce Benefits Division (WBD) you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by continuing the advancement of WBD’s groundbreaking leadership in Workforce Benefits and enhancing Pacific Life’s reputation of excellence in the marketplace. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of six people in the Workforce Benefits Division’s Technical Leadership. Your colleagues will include both Value Stream Leads, the Division CIO, the Project Portfolio Director, and the Head of Platform Operations.  This high-functioning virtual team sets and delivers Technologies for WBD.

How you’ll help move us forward:

External Environment:

  • Analyze global trends in utilizing technology across the insurance industry and potential disruptive influences.

Internal Environment:

  • Study business motivational context and interconnection of business and technology capabilities.

Consulting Support:

  • Provide advisory and consulting services, serve on technology decisioning committees, serve as trusted expert in the relationship between business and technology, engage at the transformation ideation phase.

Solution Development:

  • Develop and iterate architecture solution designs for key initiatives and special projects.

Architecture Assurance:

  • Ensure that Solution Architects elaborate on High Level Designs by developing Low Level Designs that adhere to architecture governance.

The experience you bring:

Knowledge:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, compute engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.

  • Broad but relatively narrow, financial services in general or insurance industry specific, deep in 3+ domains (Business, Applications, Data, Integration, Infrastructure, Security).  Workplace Benefits experience is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong behavioral skills relevant to consensus building, communication, facilitation, negotiation, relationship building, working knowledge of business / operating / financial models and cost / benefit analysis, risk analysis / management, consulting, and navigating organizational politics.

Experience:

  • Diversified, multifaceted and extensive, stems from working with numerous technology solutions.

  • 15+ years of progressive technology experience, with 7.5+ years as an Architect.  

  • Technical Team Leadership experience is a plus.

  • Pragmatic understanding of how to apply Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and related technologies to real world technology and business opportunities.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$167,850.00 - $205,150.00
