About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Transformation Lead to drive engineering transformation, reduce delivery friction, and embed reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement at scale.
As a leader in our team, you will lead the friction-busting initiatives and drive engineering flow, own the backlog of daily improvement enablers, and apply modern engineering and SRE practices to unblock flow, improve engineering experience, and build a culture of sustainable, high-trust delivery. This role bridges engineering, risk, and platform strategy, turning compliance into an enabler and resilience into a design principle

$119,000.00 - $224,000.00

As a leader in our team, you will lead the friction-busting initiatives and drive engineering flow, own the backlog of daily improvement enablers, and apply modern engineering and SRE practices to unblock flow, improve engineering experience, and build a culture of sustainable, high-trust delivery. This role bridges engineering, risk, and platform strategy, turning compliance into an enabler and resilience into a design principle
In this role, you will:
- Own and prioritize the backlog of transformation enablers and process improvements (e.g., SDLC friction, Jira hygiene, manual controls), making work visible and valuable
- Drive systems-level change across delivery and compliance bottlenecks
- Partner with Capability Pods and Engineering Enablers to diagnose system-level constraints and co-lead change experiments to improve delivery flow, clarity, and adoption of governance
- Apply Lean, Agile, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to reduce friction and operational burden:
- Eliminate "toil" through automation and paved road adoption
- Introduce SLO-style metrics for governance health, blocker removal, and improvement impact
- Facilitate blameless retros and reliability reviews for failed changes or control misses
- Co-create playbooks, service maps, and reusable compliance blueprints that make improvements stick across squads and enabler teams
- Champion observability by creating dashboards and feedback loops on friction, flow efficiency, and compliance burden
- Drive a cultural shift from reactive "hero" delivery to proactive, reliable system design and psychological safety
- Serve as a translator and change agent across engineering, governance, and business leadership to align priorities with delivery reality
- 5+ years of Information Security Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years in engineering, platform support, DevOps, or SRE experience
- 5 years of risk or controls leadership roles in large-scale or regulated environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-team transformations that reduce delivery friction, improve compliance, and restore trust
- Strong background in Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery environments
- Experience driving automation, service reliability, and system design thinking across functions
- Proven success influencing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders with data, empathy, and clarity
- Familiarity with SRE practices (SLOs, toil elimination, incident reviews) applied beyond operations
- Experience designing metrics and OKRs for risk reduction, process reliability, and flow improvement
- Working knowledge of SDLC, change governance, control design, and regulatory reporting
- Experience coaching teams and facilitating retros, design sprints, or continuous improvement rituals.
- Willingness to work on-site at stated location on the job opening
