The Trust & Safety Foundations team is a new team, growing from the current set of engineers that work in this space today. It’s chartered to empower our Trust & Safety organization with robust, scalable and transparent foundations. The team delivers operational excellence, reliable decision systems, and actionable data, so every T&S initiative is effective, trustworthy and resilient. This team is made up of security software engineers, security analytics engineers, machine learning engineers and data engineers.  As a leader of this team you will help shape the team charter and the future of Trust & Safety at Netflix, driving clarity on the future requirements and innovations needed to stay ahead of adversaries. Trust & Safety works across many security domains, including account fraud, distributed denial of service, content theft, piracy and safety concerns related to interactive experiences with our consumers. 

Some areas this team focuses on include the following:

  • Operations & observability: Maintain and improve observability, metrics, SLOs, and documentation for high reliability of T&S services. 

  • Decision health: Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and auditability of T&S decision systems and workflows. 

  • Self serve enablement: Build and maintain tools and configurations to empower teams to manage T&S systems safely. 

  • Quality & testing: Establish rigorous testing frameworks to guarantee the safety and effectiveness of changes.

  • Data foundations: Design and maintain data schemas and ETL workflows to enable insight and innovation. 

Desired skills and background

  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to translate detailed technical concepts or business context to those not as closely involved

  • Experience working on highly cross functional projects, spanning internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience working directly on consumer products, understanding trade offs between security and user experience 

  • Experience managing and growing a combination of early career and tenured software engineers in a highly dynamic environment


Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $510,000.00 - $752,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
