In this role, you will lead our Platform team (frontend, backend & infrastructure) to build & deliver the foundation of Thrive’s products. You will partner closely with engineering leadership, your fellow technical leaders and other stakeholders to deliver on the goal of designing, building, and innovating our libraries, tools and systems that enable Thrive’s product teams to deliver a world class product.  You will be responsible for coaching and mentoring the engineers on the team: their success will be your success!

How You'll Contribute:

  • Lead & manage the team building our libraries & services that enable our product teams to succeed
  • Working closely with product teams to enhance how they own, operate (build, deploy, monitor) and troubleshoot production software systems
  • Cultivating a high performing team, delivering technical feedback and excitement for a small, autonomous team of engineers. In this role you will be managing people and be directly responsible for their success!
  • Take responsibility for planning, execution and success of complex projects
  • Take part in technical & peer reviews, collaborative design sessions, production issue troubleshooting, business requirement gathering and other organizational processes.
  • Partnering with engineering leadership,  product, design, and data peers to create the team’s technical roadmap and be the voice of engineering as a part of the team’s leadership
  • Promote an environment of innovation and experimentation, encouraging the team to explore new technologies and approaches that can enhance our products and engineering practices.
  • Ensure the technical proficiency of your team by facilitating learning opportunities, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of the engineering department, helping to shape the future direction of technology and product development at Thrive Global.

Must Haves:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Engineering manager, preferably in a startup environment
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Technical enough to drive clarity with staff engineers about architecture and technical strategic decisions.
  • Production development experience in React, Webpack, TypeScript
  • Passion for working and leading people & technology, inspiring them to perform at their best
  • Experience building, running, and debugging scalable and reliable microservice-based applications
  • Strong understanding of systems design and its impact on application architecture

Compensation:


Base compensation for this role will likely fall in the $204,000-$250,000 range.

  • Please note: We provide a competitive mix of salary, performance bonus, and equity. The final offer amount will depend on factors like experience, expertise, and may differ from the range above. This range also excludes additional benefits, such as 401(k), and medical, dental, or vision insurance.
