At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

The Opportunity:

The Cloud Infrastructure Organization’s mission is to increase the fleet-wide agility, scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our Platform. We are responsible for one of the largest Cloud Network footprints built on AWS and constantly pushing boundaries with bleeding-edge technology through co-innovation, such as driving IPv6 at hyperscale.

We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to lead and grow a team of senior engineers within the Cloud Networking group of the Network Platform organization. The team is responsible for designing the cloud network architecture/topology, building network capabilities that provide leverage across various Netflix use cases, including streaming and gaming. The team provides Layer 2 - Layer 7 networking solutions to ensure a consistent ability to scale the network, secure traffic management throughout the Netflix ecosystem, by abstracting out the AWS primitives and the complexities of resiliency, security, routing, and insights.

You will be leading a stunning set of engineers who tackle some of the largest cloud networking challenges in the industry. The team re-architects the approach to managing and exposing modern cloud connectivity/traffic features, building on top of Netflix’s own federated resource management platform. You will own some of our key bets, ship overarching abstractions, and create APIs enabling Netflix developers to completely change the way they interact with the products and infrastructure delivered by the broader cloud infrastructure organization.

This team has reliably enabled Netflix’s hyper-cloud growth by co-innovating with AWS, driving technologies such as IPv6, Hybrid infrastructure, and delivering eBPF-based products to create novel solutions to classic problems, like NAT64. If you’re looking for a deeply technical and highly dynamic opportunity that will have an outsized impact on the future of how Netflix scales into the future, we’d love to talk to you!

What you will do:

  • Drive the vision and strategy for evolving our Cloud Networking Platform solutions.

  • Build, scale, and mentor a cohesive team of amazing engineers.

  • Form strong cross-functional partnerships driven by trust to achieve alignment with many engineering teams and ensure our solutions meet their needs, while maintaining our focus on agility, scalability, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Deliver network platform capabilities and drive adoption across Netflix with a focus on eng-excellence and timely execution.

What we are looking for:

  • A product-focused Leader who understands what customers want and has a passion for building platforms.

  • A deeply technical Manager who understands the development & management of distributed systems and at-scale software services.

  • You are outcome-focused and able to think from first principles.

  • Experience building and operating complex distributed systems at scale in the cloud networking domain. We use AWS; experience with building/consuming the networking stack of a public cloud is desired.

  • Solid understanding of Layer3/Layer4 networking, QoS, SDN, and Network Security.

  • Proven track record of shipping/solving hard problems with tricky technical or organizational constraints and complex migration efforts while building trust with partners.

  • Strong software development focus that abstracts away complexity and guides the team to deliver simple, powerful solutions to customers.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

A few more things about us:

As a team, we come from many different backgrounds and countries, and our fields of education range from the humanities to engineering to computer science and we strive to give people the opportunity to wear different hats, should they choose to. We strongly believe this diversity and agility has helped us build an inclusive and empathetic environment, and we are looking forward to adding your perspective to the mix!
